Cthulhu Mythos Prototype Study

At the beginning of the 20 th century,the return of mythology became a remarkable cultural phenomenon.The Cthulhu myth,born in this period,has become a strange story that makes people panic and tremble under the influence of science fiction,terror and many other elements.But this does not mean that the Cthulhu myth has broken the shackles of traditional myths.In fact,the core idea of Cthulhu’s myth unknown fear is the extreme deduction of the collective unconsciousness of the primitive people.Specifically,in the text of the story,The creation of god’s image,the narration of god’s story,and the mode of content structure,are all the modern reconstruction of the mythological archetype by Lovecraft.At the same time,The Cthulhu Mythos of the period has also been incorporated into the operating mechanism of modern production and life,and has had a deeper connotation under the wave of new mythology.Based on the background of mythology,this paper tries to analyze the archetypal motif of Cthulhu’s myth,the mutual permeability of traditional mythological thinking,and the evolution of Cthulhu’s myth archetypes under the wave of new mythology.While looking backward,it can also face the present,trying to grasp Cthulhu’s myth archetypes in a complete historical context.The paper is mainly composed of three parts: introduction,text,and conclusion.The introduction part mainly defines the concept of the article topic,sorts out relevant achievements of domestic and overseas academic research,expounds the academic value and significance of this paper,and summarizes research ideas and innovation points.The first chapter mainly deconstructs the Cthulhu myth from the perspective of literature and philosophy,analyzes the generation mechanism of Cthulhu’s myth from the perspective of Gnosticism,analyzes the terrorist source of Cthulhu’s myth with the reference of Gothic novels,and initially shows the origin of Cthulhu’s myth and primitive myth,laying the foundation for the analysis of archetypes.The second chapter mainly explains the motif prototype of the Cthulhu myth from three perspectives: the shaping of the image of the god’s image,the telling of the story content,and the psychological mechanism contained in the sacrifice ceremony.By companing Cthulhu myth with the Greek myth,the Nordic myth,and the biblical myth,we can find the similarities between their contents,analyze the similarities of the psychological mechanism,and present in detail the collective unconsciousness that links the national survival and development chain in detail.The third chapter focuses on the structural model of Cthulhu’s mythical archetype,explains its narrative mechanism,pays attention to the aesthetic strategy of Cthulhu’smythical archetype writing,and explores its horror aesthetics and sublime aesthetics.The fourth chapter,based on the new mythology,takes care of the different expressions of Cthulhu’s mythological archetypes in movies,online articles and games,and shows the transformation of Cthulhu’s mythological gods and gods in the mass media.In the conclusion part,the author discusses the whole viewpoints of this article as a whole and explains the significance of this paper for the study and the development of Cthulhu myth.As a modern myth,the Cthulhu myth not only inherits the collective unconsciousness of the primitive people,but also condenses the thinking mode of modern people.It is an important resource for excavation.However,the myth of Cthulhu has always been subordinate to the minority culture,with few research results.With the development of mass media,the study of Cthulhu myth begin to heat up,but there are still many gaps.The research on the archetype of Cthulhu myth may become a hot topic in future research.
