A Report On The Translation Practice Of The Communist Party Of Vietnam’s "Summary Report On Party Construction And Implementation Of The Party Constitution During The12Th Central Term" (Excerpt)-From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

As the process of world multipolarization and the concept of a shared human destiny continue to develop,countries around the world are striving to strengthen exchanges between political parties and establish mutually beneficial cooperation platforms.In this context,the role of political texts in exchanges between countries is particularly important.Through current political texts,we can understand the political systems and policies of different countries,which makes it easy for us to observe the national conditions of different countries from various perspectives and formulate corresponding diplomatic strategies.This translation practice report excerpts a political document issued by the Vietnamese government during the 13 th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam on January 26,2021,titled "Report of the 12 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on Party Building and Party Statute Implementation"(referred to as the "Report").The "Report" includes the Vietnamese government’s party building,the implementation of the party constitution,the achievements of the Communist Party of Vietnam in various aspects,and the remaining problems and deficiencies.This translation practice enriches the translation materials of Vietnamese political texts and provides translation reference for the field of political texts.This translation practice uses Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory as the guiding theory for translation practice.Starting from the vocabulary,syntax of the selected text,the translator adopts translation methods such as literal translation,free translation,syntactic linearity,and splitting method to explore translation practice problems and difficulties.By applying appropriate translation strategies and methods,the corresponding translation practice problems would be solved.
