Guzheng has a crisp and clean tone and a meaningful and elegant charm. As a national instrument with a long history,it is loved by people. With the increasing development of guzheng music, the creation and performance skills of guzheng music have also taken new forms. The first performance of "Water Waves in Layers" was in2001.It is an excellent zither solo with distinctive performance characteristics and modern style characteristics created by Mr.Tao Yimo. With water as the theme material, this song outlines the music thoughts of water waves and mood, and integrates the creation concept of freehand brushwork in Chinese painting into the music style, which is not only traditional flavor but also full of romantic modern flavor. This paper mainly analyzes the creation style and performance skills, and is divided into five parts, introduction, three chapters and conclusion. The first chapter is an introduction to the composer and a brief summary of the background of this work. The second chapter is to clarify the creation style of the music by analyzing the characteristics of the chord setting, the structure of the music and the rhythm. The third chapter is to sort out, summarize and summarize the performance difficulties of the music from the performance skills of adagio, allegro and epilogue. The unique style of "Water Waves at Layers" has been deeply loved by performers since its creation, and has a high selection rate in examinations and competitions. The author hopes that by combining his own performance practice, the author can make a more in-depth interpretation and analysis of the creative style and performance skills of "Layers of Water Waves",so as to more accurately understand the artistic conception of the work and play the work better.
