A Study On The Musical Structure Of Millau's "The Creation Of The World"

Darius(September4,1892--12June1974)mieux was one of the most prolific composers of the twentieth century.His life spanned two centuries,two world wars,and many countries.His work,with a number,reached 443.He is one of the most famous composers in modern France and occupies an important position in the history of Western music.His unique technique covers a wide range of genres,including opera,Piano Works,Concertos,chamber music,Art Songs,Film Music,Oratorio,symphony and ballet.In the category of ballet,he wrote more than a dozen ballets,and his works have run through his life.It spanned the first half of the 20 th century,starting in 1918 and ending in 1957.His ballet style is unique,good at the visual sensory effects into the musical language,works are always with an exotic musical elements.The creation of the world,Millau’s third ballet,not only established Millau’s place in the history of French music,but also left the world with a unique jazz masterpiece.This thesis takes Millau’s ballet the creation of the world as the research object,through analyzing its music form structure and the musical performance means,thus peep the creation characteristic and the music style of the work.The thesis consists of six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which explains the reason,significance,present situation,contents and methods of the research.The second chapter,Millau and the creation of the world,including life and music creation,the creation of the world,two parts of the content,outlined Millau’s life,the important period of music creation and the creation of the world writing background.The third chapter,the form structure,including the single theme Sonata Form,Fugue,complex two-part form,variation form,complex three-part form,no reproduction of the single three-part form content,from the macro to the micro-music works to do a detailed text analysis.The Fourth Chapter,other performance elements,from the theme of the characteristics,texture features,tonal layout,the characteristics of four parts of the work in-depth and systematic summary.Chapter V,creative characteristics,from the jazz factor,the use of neoclassicism,two aspects of the creation of foreigncharacteristics and on the basis of the traditional characteristics of innovation.The last chapter is the conclusion of the creation of the world by Millau’s creative characteristics and aesthetic value of the overall summary and distillation.Through the study of the musical form structure of Millau’s creation of the world,this thesis has a deep understanding of the characteristics of the musical form structure and the layout laws of other musical elements,thus,we have a further understanding of the artistic value embodied in Millau’s music works,and provide useful enlightenment for theoretical research and creative practice.
