Cucuteni·Yangshao-The Archaeological Cultures Of Southern Europe And China In Late Neolithic Age

Both characterized by painted pottery,Cucuteni Culture and Yangshao Culture are very important neolithic cultures existed in Southeast Europe and China respectively during the late Neolithic period.The same era background and similar patterns of painted pottery have attracted extensive attention from scholars at home and abroad.And the painted pottery has therefore become an important artefact to anser the questions about cultural interactions.The paper introduces the typical sites and remains of the Cucuteni culture and summarizes characteristics of Cucuteni Culture by such stages as A,A-B and B.At the same timethe characteristics of Yangshao Culture is also summarized by stages respectively based on Beishouling Culture,Banpo Culture,Miaodigou Culture and Majiayao Culture.On this basis,the comparative study method is used to objectively compare the similarities and differences between Cucuteni Culture and Yangshao Culture from the horizontal dimension firstly.The purpose of this part,which is divided into the comparision during the same period and that of different periods,is to explore the reasons behind cultural similarities and the possibility of cultural exchanges.Then the similarities and differences between Miaodigou Culture and Majiayao Culture is discussed from the vertical dimension.The purpose of the part is to further explore the successive relationship between local cultures.According to the comparison,we can found that Majiayao Culture is more closely related to the Miaodigou Culture and Majiayao Culture has been further developed on the basis of the Miaodigou Culture.Meanwhile,Majiayao Culture may have been influenced in late period by western archaeological cultures.However,the specific transmission path and approach still require more discoveries and further exploration.
