Research On Fish Patterns Of Painted Pottery In Yangshao Culture Of Dadiwan

According to the patterns,the painted pottery fish patterns of Dadiwan Yangshao culture(phase II,III and IV)can be divided into four types: realistic fish patterns,variant fish patterns(including typical fish patterns and simplified fish patterns),complex fish patterns,and variant salamander fish patterns.Through the analysis of fish pattern in Dadiwan Yangshao cultural site,we can clearly realize that the typical fish pattern is the most common decoration.After a series of development and evolution,fish pattern has gone through the evolution process from complex to simple,from realistic to abstract.The triangle pattern and petal pattern appeared in the second stage cultural sites are developed on the basis of typical fish pattern.The fish pattern with straight edge has an evolutionary relationship with the triangle pattern with straight edge,and the fish pattern with arc edge has an evolutionary relationship with the triangle pattern with arc edge and petal pattern with arc edge.Fish pattern is the reflection of fish worship,reproduction worship and deity worship.Pottery basin with fish pattern is a tool for sorcerers to communicate.People worship the nature and revere it,which is the most simple view of nature.The appearance of the fish and bird pattern is related to the ancients’ observation of the climate and the concept of "Yin and Yang".The fish pattern painted pottery basin is a round utensil.The ancestors of Dadiwan had a special preference for the circle,which is related to "Tao".Fish pattern pays attention to symmetry,unity and color matching,which is the embodiment of the artistic characteristics of fish pattern.From the single realistic fish and typical fish in the second stage cultural sites to the simplified fish and variant salamander in the third stage cultural sites,and finally to the fish dog complex fish pattern in the fourth stage cultural sites,each stage has its own unique style.The fish pattern on the painted pottery of the Yangshao cultural site in Dadiwan has the characteristics of the times.The evolution of fish pattern towards triangle pattern and petal pattern shows that its development has the characteristics of variability.It has not disappeared for more than a thousand years,which reflects the continuity of fish pattern development.The patterns of fish patterns on the colored pottery in Dadiwan Yangshao cultural site are similar to those in the eastern part of Gansu Province,Guanzhong and other similar cultural sites,but due to the regional differences,they have unique regional characteristics.The typical fish patterns in Dadiwan Yangshao cultural sites are widely distributed,and have an important impact on the formation and development of the typical fish patterns in the Yangshao cultural sites such as gaositou in Lixian County and dalijiaping in Wudu County in the east of Gansu Province.
