| The English Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools(2017edition)emphasizes the importance of core English literacy and the fostering of cultural awareness among students.In the middle school English curriculum,reading is an important way to improve English core literacy,especially cultural awareness.This thesis delves into the current state of culture teaching in senior high school English reading classes,taking into account the fundamentals of core literacy.This thesis delves into the current state of culture teaching in senior high school English reading classes,utilizing cross-cultural communication theory,cultural response teaching theory and constructivism theory as its theoretical foundation.The primary research issues are as follows:First,what is the current situation of culture teaching in senior high school English reading ? Second,according to the division of cultural awareness by core literacy,how is the cultivation of cultural awareness of high school students ?Third,what are the problems in the current culture teaching in senior high school English reading class according to the requirements of the key competencies for teachers to cultivate students ’ cultural awareness? Fourth,what factors lead to the above problems ?Questionnaires were distributed to 15 teachers and 400 students in s’ s senior middle schools,7students and 6 teachers were interviewed,and 91 students in two classes were given test papers,the results of questionnaire survey,interview and test paper analysis are as follows :First,at present,the situation of culture teaching in senior high school English reading teaching in s is that students’ interest in learning cultural knowledge is weak,their accumulation is poor,and their attention is low.Teachers’ understanding of cultural teaching is insufficient and the content is not deep.Second,at present,the cultural awareness of high school students in s City is not ideal.Third,there are some problems in senior high school English reading teaching,such as students ’ difficulties in perceiving culture,lack of excellent culture,errors in cultural cognition,lack of internalization of cultural knowledge,and difficulty in forming civilized behavior.Fourth,the main factors affecting the culture teaching in senior high school English reading class are the lack of teachers ’ education and teaching ideas,the weak basic knowledge of students ’ language,the limited reading class hours,and the lack of school culture education and training.According to the present situation of culture teaching in English reading teaching in school,and combined with the results of questionnaires and interviews with teachers and students,the researchers put forward the following teaching suggestions: First,teachers should strengthen the theoretical knowledge and research related to the concept of teaching and the core literacy of English subjects.Second,teachers should change their teaching concepts and attach equal importance to the cultivation of cultural awareness and language knowledge.Third,teachers should explore multi-cultural teaching methods to stimulate students’ interest in learning.Fourth,teachers should pay attention to mining the cultural information of the text. |
