Research On The Development And Construction Of Military Reclamation Farms In The Great Northern Wilderness Reclamation Area(1947-1966)

The Great Northern Wilderness Reclamation Area is located in Heilongjiang Province,northeast China.It is one of the three famous black soil belts in the world and has abundant natural resources.The Great Northern Wilderness Reclamation Area has the largest farming area and the highest degree of mechanization in China.Nowadays,the Great Northern Wilderness Reclamation Area has an important commodity grain base in China and has played an important role in ensuring China’s food security.Since 1947,under the leadership of the Communist Party of China,returning soldiers and young people who support border areas have successively come to the Great Northern Wilderness Reclamation Area to participate in production and construction.During this period,they built a large number of military reclamation farms,made important contributions to defending the frontiers,prospering the frontiers,and building socialist modernization.This article takes the period from 1947 to 1966 as the center of investigation,and focuses on the entrepreneurial process of countless returned soldiers who overcame various difficulties to build military reclamation farms in the Northern Wilderness under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.This paper objectively evaluates the brilliant achievements made by the military reclamation farm during the development and construction period,and summarizes the construction experience and contemporary enlightenment of the military reclamation farm.The climate in The Great Northern Wilderness Reclamation Area is suitable,the soil is fertile,and water is abundant,which provides good conditions for agricultural production.However,due to the exploitation and oppression of successive rulers,the rich agricultural resources of Heilongjiang Province were not reasonably developed,and the agricultural economy of Heilongjiang Province was very backward before liberation.In 1947,the Communist Party of China led the rehabilitated officers and soldiers to develop the agricultural resources of The Great Northern Wilderness Reclamation Area on a large scale,and a large number of military farms were built in twenty years.This paper makes an objective evaluation of the construction of military reclamation farms during this period,and affirms the positive role played by military reclamation farms in various aspects,such as reclaiming border areas,consolidating national defense,resettling all kinds of personnel,giving play to demonstration effects,prospering frontiers,and ensuring food security in the Great Northern Wilderness.To sum up the brilliant achievements of the military reclamation farms,the key lies in adhering to the leadership of the Communist Party of China and gathering the strength of all parties to develop military reclamation farms and strengthen the agricultural technology training and ideological and political work of the rehabilitated officers and soldiers.Nowadays,military farms are history,but still have a very important value for the times.In the new historical period,the country should strengthen national defense,adhere to the cantonment and garrisoning of the border,promote the spirit of The Great Northern Wilderness and inherit the culture of military reclamation.The Great Northern Wilderness should continue to play a role in ensuring food security by strengthening agricultural science and technology to ensure food security.The Great Northern Wilderness should play to its strengths,develop military tourism,and drive the surrounding farmers to prosperity.
