Cai Shouqi And His Dream Green Caotang Poems Review

Cai Shouqi(1816-1888),known as Dianqi,was a native of Dehua(present-day Jiujiang),Jiangxi.In the nineteenth year of Daoguang(1839),he raised people,and in the twentieth year of Daoguang(1840),he entered the sergeant,edited the official Hanlin Academy,entered the Wen Yuan Pavilion,and spoke about living as an official.Xianfeng 5th year(1855)Shuntianxiang examination examiner,Xianfeng 6th year(1856)Hall examination paperholder.Today,there are twelve volumes of the poetry collection Dream Green Caotang Poems and four volumes of Sequel to Dream Green Caotang Poems,with more than 1,000 poems.Starting from Cai Shouqi’s family lineage,life,travels,the version and theme of the Dream Green Caotang Poems,this paper classifies the poems with prominent themes on the basis of examining his people,so as to objectively evaluate Cai Shouqi and the historical achievements of Cai Shouqi’s poetry creation.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this article consists of three chapters.The first chapter sorts out Cai Shouqi’s life and deeds,and his life stages can be roughly divided into the semester,the eunuch period and the sluggish period,and traces the Cai Shouqi family according to the poems contained in the Dream Green Caotang Poems,and examines the exchanges between Cai Shouqi and his family in-laws.The second chapter examines Cai Shouqi’s travels and literary creation,Cai Shouqi’s travels are roughly based on the two places of "hometown travel" and "Beijing teacher travel",when he was in the township,he had many poems and gifts with his master’s friends,and after entering the dynasty as an official,he was paid to sing with imperial court officials and friends in Beijing and China,forming a paid singing group centered on Fu Baosen,Zhu Qi,Ye Mingji and others.The third chapter focuses on the Dream Green Caotang Poems,and on the basis of combing through its version information,it explores the poetic origin of Cai Shouqi on the basis of collecting prefaces,commentaries,inscriptions,etc.written by others.This section conducts an in-depth analysis of the more prominent style of chronicle poems,such as worrying about the times and the people,loyalty and filial piety,military travel,seclusion and homesickness,and exploring the style and characteristics of Cai Shouqi’s poetry.Hu Yingjian used Cai Shouqi’s "poet style bone book Gao Qian" as the title in Modern Jiangxi Poetry,saying that his poetry was easy and police,but his image in the history books was mostly "political opportunist" and "jumping beam clown",because of political speculative errors,Cai Shouqi’s literati identity was covered by his political mistakes.This thesis aims to restore Cai Shouqi’s life trajectory according to the social environment at that time,and objectively evaluate his achievements in poetry creation.From his travels,he examined the information of literati of the same era,the same region or the same identity background,further promoted the study of poetics in Jiangxi,and revalued the position of Jiangxi poetics in the history of Chinese literature in the Qing Dynasty.
