A Study On Li Zhi And His Poetry

Li Zhi was a poet in eastern Zhejiang during the reign of Jiaqing and Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty.He had profound attainments in poetry,calligraphy and painting.Li Zhi has collection of poems by the people of Baihua Mountain and his theory of poems by the people of Baihua Mountain have been published in the world.He lived in a special period from prosperity to decline in the Qing Dynasty.His official career was not smooth and his life was difficult,so his poems mostly reflected the hardship of people’s livelihood and the indignation of the times.His achievements in poetics were high,his poems were based on temperament,and his poetic style was bold and unconstrained,which had a far-reaching impact on the poetry world in eastern Zhejiang during the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods.At present,the academic research on Li Zhi mainly focuses on his painting and calligraphy,and pays less attention to his poetry creation and poetic theory.Based on a comprehensive investigation of Li Zhi’s poetic thoughts,this paper makes a comprehensive discussion of his poems,grasps the ideological content and artistic characteristics of his poems,so as to have a comprehensive understanding of Li Zhi and his poems.This paper is divided into six parts: the introduction part summarizes the predecessors’ research on Li Zhi’s family life,friends and works,poetry creation,and leads to the basis and significance of this paper.The first chapter introduces Li Zhi’s family background,life and works.According to the chronological order,Li Zhi’s life can be divided into the early and poor childhood,the bumpy youth,the free and easy middle age,and the peaceful and quiet old age.At the same time,it gives a brief overview of his collection of Baihua Mountain People’s poems,the theory of Baihua Mountain People’s poems,calligraphy and painting,so as to have an overall understanding of Li Zhi and his works.In the second chapter,according to the relationship between Li Zhi and his friends,it focuses on Li Zhi’s friendship,which is in turn his friendship with his relatives and members of Zhenhu poetry club.It is of great significance to explore Li Zhi’s friendship activities for the study of his poetry creation.The third chapter focuses on the representative work of Li Zhi’s poetics,Baihuashan people’s poetry theory,analyzes his poetics,and then explores the connection and difference between Li Zhi’s poetry creation and the mainstream trend of Jiaqing and Daoguang poetry,traces back to the source,excavates the origin of Li Zhi’s poetics,and lays the foundation for further research on the relationship between his poetry theme,artistic characteristics and poetics.The fourth chapter summarizes the theme and content of Li Zhi’s poetry,which is divided into politics and people’s livelihood poetry,landscape and pastoral poetry,travel lyric poetry,history lyric poetry,painting and wall poetry and singing and answering poetry,and analyzes and excavates his poems with outstanding characteristics.The fifth chapter expounds the artistic features of Li Zhi’s poems from the aspects of style,language,expression and emotion.The conclusion is mainly based on Li Zhi’s poetry creation and poetics,further summarizes his outstanding contribution and value to the eastern Zhejiang poetry in Jiaqing and Daoguang years,and affirms his literary status and influence.
