| The newly promulgated compulsory education curriculum standards in 2022 point out that English course should play a leading role in core literacy,and English courses should focus on core competencies to determine curriculum goals,select course content,innovate teaching methods,and improve examination evaluation.In other words,the organization of English course content is theme-led,based on different types of discourse,incorporating language knowledge,cultural knowledge,language skills and learning strategies,etc.,and requires that it be presented in the form of units.Different from the traditional English teaching mode,which unilaterally emphasizes grammar and other knowledge points,the unit holistic teaching emphasizes the cultivation of students’ core literacy,including listening,speaking,reading,writing and other comprehensive pragmatic skills.At the same time,the unit holistic teaching also proposes to break the arrangement of teaching materials and arrange the content or activities of the same topic as a whole.The new curriculum standard also proposes the integration of teaching evaluation,so the unit holistic teaching is not only the overall arrangement of the teaching content and activities in the unit based on the theme and context,but also the unified arrangement of teaching objectives,learning objectives and evaluation objectives.The unit holistic teaching can fully reflect the integrity of the English.In order to develop students’ core competencies,the unit holistic teaching based on the meaning of the theme can be implemented at the elementary school level.In order to cultivate the core literacy of students,the unit holistic teaching based on the meaning of the theme can be implemented at the primary school level.This article will study and discuss the teaching material of the New Standard English first-grade textbook published by the Foreign Research Institute as an example.The unit holistic teaching design and application research of primary school English will answer the following three questions in combination with specific cases: First,how to design and implement the unit holistic teaching in primary schools? Second,how has students’ learning attitude changed after the implementation of the unit holistic teaching of primary school? Third,what is the impact of the unit holistic teaching of primary school on students’ achievement? This study uses questionnaire surveys,teacher-student interviews,classroom observations,tests and other means to explore how to carry out the unit holistic teaching,and verifies the effect of the unit holistic teaching.Based on Gestalt psychology,unit holistic teaching theory and reverse teaching design theory,this paper analyzes the data using SPSS26.0.Through experiments and data comparison,it is found that the unit holistic teaching of primary can be designed by clarifying unit objectives,sorting out the meaning of themes,integrating unit teaching materials,creating language situations,arranging learning activities,and designing evaluation scales.The unit holistic teaching can significantly improve students’ learning attitude,and at the same time,it can also improve students’ English score. |
