With the continuous development of society,the reform of English curriculum has already been performing in the field of basic education,aiming to cultivate the core literacy of students’ English course.Learning ability is considered the development condition that constitutes the core literacy of English course,which constitutes a basis for students’ lifelong development.It refers to students’ awareness and ability to use actively and adjust English learning strategies,expand English learning channels and strive to enhance English learning efficiency.Recently,12-Year-All-Through Schools have developed so fast,but after researching,the researches of senior high students’ English learning ability in 12-Year-All-Through Schools are lack.In view of the lack of existing research,this study selects 740 students from the high school of a 12-Year-All-Through School(L)in D city,Shandong Province as the research object,and studies the current situation of the cultivation of English learning ability.The research methods are based on questionnaire and interview.The specific research questions are as follows:1.What is the current situation of English learning ability training for high school students in 12-Year-All-Through School? What are the problems in the use of learning strategies,the acquisition of learning resource channels,and learning efficiency?2.What are the reasons that affect the English learning ability of high school students in12-Year-All-Through School?Using SPSS software to analyze 740 student questionnaires and 34 teacher questionnaires,15 students and 6 English teachers were interviewed deeply,the research found that:1.The current situation of English learning ability training for high school students in L school is not ideal,and there is still a big gap between it and the goals required in the new curriculum standard.Most students have little understanding of learning strategies and use them relatively poorly;the channels for obtaining learning resources are relatively single;learning efficiency is relatively low.2.Teachers have a great influence on the development of students’ English learning ability.The lack of self-literacy of teachers in L school,the relatively single teaching content,the lack of diversity in teaching methods,and the lack of diversification in teaching evaluation are not conducive to the improvement of English learning ability of L school students.In order to improve the cultivation of English learning ability of high school students under the 12-Year-All-Through School,this study puts forward some constructive suggestions for students and teachers in order to improve the English learning ability of high school students.
