New English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School(2017)puts forward four components of English core literacy,emphasizing learning ability,and autonomous learning is an essential component of learning ability.Therefore,it is imperative to cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability in English learning.At present,most English courses are still teacher-centered,aiming at mastering basic knowledge and skills.It isn’t easy to achieve the goal of student-centered learning.Under this educational background,many scholars are exploring good ways to cultivate students’ autonomous learning,especially in information technology and network.Micro-lectures have the advantages of short time,refined content,easy access,situational and systematic as a learning resource.It is one of the ideal learning resources for students to learn independently.According to constructivism and autonomous learning theory,the experiment on English teaching with micro-lectures aims to explore the following questions: 1)What effects do micro-lectures have on high school students’ English achievement? 2)What effects of micro-lectures on senior high school students’ autonomous English learning ability?A total of 123 students from two classes of Grade One in a key middle school in Chongqing were selected as the research object,and a four-month teaching experiment was conducted.The experimental class(20)adopts the English teaching method based on micro-lectures,while the control class(13)adopts the conventional English teaching method.The learning materials and progress of the two classes are consistent during the experiment.The research tools mainly include pre-and post-test papers,questionnaires,and interviews,and SPSS25.0 is used for data analysis after the experiment.The research shows that: 1)Micro-lectures can improve senior high school students’ English scores.2)Micro-lectures can improve senior high school students’ autonomous learning ability,especially in methods,processes,results,and learning environments.Therefore,it is feasible and effective to use micro-lectures in English classroom teaching,and it is of specific significance to use micro-lectures in senior high school English teaching. |
