Nowadays, with the continuous deepening of the trend of globalization, the “Going Global”of Chinese culture has become a significant strategy for China’s cultural construction. As translation is considered as a bridge for cultural exchange, translation of Chinese literary works has become an important link in promoting the “Going Global” of Chinese culture. In the light of this, the author of the report has selected Years, the Queen Ant,a contemporary excellent fairy tale written by Sun Huifen who is a Chinese writer and the winner of the third Lu Xun Literary Prize,as the translation material. This work which is full of philosophical speculation, childlike humor, and Chinese characteristics inspires people to bravely face the things unknown of life and ponder on the truth of the world with a kind and loving heart.Based on the Translation Behavior Criticism Theory proposed by Chinese scholar Professor Zhou Lingshun, the report aims to explore how to achieve a balance between accurately conveying the style and meaning of the source text and maintaining readability in the translation.Under the guidance of the principles of truth-seeking and utility-attaining as well as“Truth-seeking-Utility-attaining” evaluative model of continuum in the Translator Behavior Criticism Theory, three aspects are discussed in the report, namely, the inclination to truth-seeking,the inclination to utility-attaining,and semi-truth-seeking and semi-utility-attaining.In order to achieve the inclination to truth-seeking,the author of the report adopts literal and free translation strategies in the translation practice.Besides, three translation methods are used to achieve the inclination to utility-attaining,including omission, amplification, and restructuring. With the help of transliteration with annotation,semi-truth-seeking and semi-utility-attaining is attained in the translation. The report finds that it is feasible to apply the translator behavior criticism into the translation practice of fairy tales,as it urges translators to accurately convey the meaning and style of the original text while taking the needs of target language readers and society into account to improve the quality and acceptance of the translation, thus promoting the dissemination of Chinese culture.Besides, the application of the Translator Behavior Criticism Theory in translation practice is conducive to the construction of China’s international discourse power in translation.
