A Study On The Spatial Narrative Of Rural Documentaries

The countryside has always been the focus of Chinese societal attention.Rural-themed documentary is an unavoidable topic for creators who aspires to mirror reality in their work.With the advances of the rural revitalization strategy,the appearance of China’s countryside is no longer poor and backward,but a beautiful picture of people’s wealth and ecological beauty in harmony between man and nature,regional characteristics and economic coordinated development.As an important means of communication and expression of rural images,documentaries shoulder the mission of showing the real rural living space.The healthy development of rural documentaries helps the whole society to pay attention to rural images,which is of great significance for the healthy development of rural areas.Rural documentaries in the new era play an important role in promoting rural revitalization,presenting rural features and promoting rural spiritual civilization.As an important narrative element of documentaries,space is not only the narrative means of documentaries,but also the basis of documentary narration.All stories are based on space.Selective performance and artificial participation of objective environment and events make the space in documentaries filled,making space narration become the instinct of documentaries.Rural documentaries of different periods can be regarded as the epitome of the era image of Chinese social development.Since the 18^thNational Congress of the communist Party of China,General Secreary Xi Jin ping has called on literary and artistic creators to go among the people,root themselves in the people’s lives,and gradually emerged a group of outstanding countryside documentaries films,which also reflects the achievements of our country’s countryside revitalization strategy,and concentrates the attention of current literary and artistic creators on countryside development.This paper takes the spatial narrative theory as the starting point and combines the data samples and personal video works of rural documentaries for analysis,which is divided into five parts.The first chapter starts with the concept of rural documentary and space narrative,Explain rural themed documentaries and spatial narratives,and define rural themed documentaries.The second chapter analyzes the spatial narrative form and function of rural documentaries,and discusses from the perspectives of geographic space,cultural space,architectural space and spiritual space.The third chapter explores the expression of space image of rural documentary,different space objects express different space image.The fourth chapter begins with the analysis of the audio-visual construction of the spatial image of the rural theme documentary,and analyzes how the rural theme documentary uses the picture modeling language to outline the positive rural spatial image,and uses audio-visual elements to externalize the rural space in the documentary.Chapter five is a creative summary and reflection of the graduation works.
