| The gypsy nation has a wealth of ethnic culture,of which music and dance are the main forms of artistic expression.As the jewel of Gypsy art,the diversity and magnificence of its national culture have attracted the attention of the world today.Due to the wandering habits of the Gypsy people,their music is highly characterized by the pathos and desolation of the region.Therefore,it is particularly important to study the elements of Gypsy music in western violin works.Because of their high degree of national independence and self-discovery,the Gypsy nation has a high level of cultural independence and hasn’t been assimilated by other nations.The music of the Gypsy nation is characterized by a combination of its own musical characteristics and local musical styles,resulting in a distinctive ethnic musical style.This thesis explores the characteristics of Gypsy folk music with three works for violin,Song of the Wanderer,Carmen Fantasy and Tzigane,and is divided into seven chapters:Chapter one is an introduction,which mainly explains the research significance,research status and research methods.Chapter two focuses on the musical development of the Gypsy nation and provides a discussion of the historical culture of the Gypsy nation in two parts,the historical development of the Gypsy people before the 19 th century and the historical development of the Gypsy people after the 19 th century,and it provides a brief analysis of the artistic development of the Gypsy nation.Chapter three can be divided into two parts.The first part of Chapter 3 provides a brief background and musical analysis of the composition of Song of the Wanderer,while the second part provides a brief analysis of the embodiment of Gypsy musical elements,including a discussion of the embodiment of the Gypsy scale in Song of the Wanderer and the expression of the mournful mood of Gypsy music in Song of the Wanderer.Chapter four can be divided into two parts.The first part provides an overview of the context and musical analysis of the composition of Carmen Fantasy,while the second part provides a brief analysis of the Gypsy musical elements,including the rhythms of the Gypsy music and the passionate mood of the Gypsy music in Carmen Fantasy.Chapter five can be divided into two parts.The first part provides an overview of the context and musical analysis of the composition in Tzigane,while the second part discusses the use of Gypsy musical elements,including the embodiment of the Gypsy scale in Tzigane.Chapter six discusses the significance and influence of gypsy music in Western musical works,using the examples of the Hungarian Rhapsody for solo piano and Paquita for dance drama to discuss the embodiment of Gypsy music in Western musical works of the 19 th century.Chapter seven is the conclusion. |
