Yresearch And Practice Of Gray Color Expression In Watercolor Landscape Of Zhao Long

Colors are the core of watercolor.In the current painting creation,the application and research of gray color have increased substantially,but the exploring studies of gray color in watercolor’s creation and theoretical research are relatively less.After many times exploring learning in the use of gray and colorful pigments,the author has found that the application and shaping of gray color have a great impact on the formation of watercolor picture’s style.In addition,gray color has a stronger visual effect on paintings’ expression.Therefore,after a lot of paintings analysis and practical exploration,the author chooses Zhao Long’s watercolor landscape paintings as the entry point for gray color’s application and research.Zhao Long is a famous modern and contemporary watercolor artist.He uses gray color in most of his works and combines with color reconciliation regularity creatively,so the thesis’ main content bases on that.In the thesis,the author selects a few series of Zhao Long’s recent years’ works,and carries out the research and practical creation based on the research and application of gray color in Zhao Long’s watercolor creation.There are four chapters in the thesis.The first chapter is a brief introduction of Zhao Long,which gives a brief overview of Zhao Long’s life and his development process in watercolor art.The second chapter describes the concept and performance characteristics of gray color.In this chapter,through analyzing the predecessors’ use of gray color,the author lays a foundation for the study of Zhao Long’s gray color.The thesis’ key point lays in chapter 3 and chapter 4.In chapter 3,by the means of example analysis,works appreciation and literature research,etc,the author tries to analyze gray color’s application and expression in Zhao Long’s watercolor works comprehensively,systematically and profoundly.The mystery of Zhao Long’s gray colors use has been explored from the aspects of color attribute,color use area,basic techniques of watercolor and the role of gray colors in Zhao Long’s watercolor works.What’s more,in chapter 4,combining with Fangchenggang’s on-the-spot collection paintings,the author discusses the use of gray colors’ influence on her graduation creation.At last,the author summarizes the whole thesis and points out her own creative thinking and perception.
