The Application Of David Hockney’s Decorative Language In Oil Painting

David Hockney is one of the most influential artists in the international painting world today.He has devoted his life to artistic practice and research,creating some of the most recognizable and vivid images of the last half century.After 2000,he began to challenge the frontiers of technology with his art,and began to paint with i Phones,i Pads and other electronic devices,overturning the traditional expression of the pen and line,creating new forms of work and conveying new ideas with his unique way of viewing and individuality,spanning multiple fields such as painting,photography,etching and design.His brilliant colors,unique compositions,and dynamic brushstrokes are his best decorative language.This paper is divided into four sections,the first part is to introduce the historical origin of decorative painting,suggesting that all the paintings in ancient and modern times are inseparable from decorative;the second part is to discuss the formation of Hockney’s painting style,which is inseparable from the influence of the times on him;the third part is to sort out and analyze the decorative language of Hockney’s paintings,elaborating from three aspects: color,shape and composition.The fourth part is to explain the inspiration of Hockney’s decorative language on the author’s creation,showing the influence of Hockney on my art creation through the creation theme,main content,creation method,creation process and emotional expression.This paper hopes to analyze the formal characteristics of Hockney’s paintings from the perspective of decorative language,so that the study of Hockney’s paintings can further provide a reference basis for everyone and my own creation.
