Study On Folk Culture Contained In The Fugu Dialect Words

Fugu County,located in the north of Shaanxi Province,has thousands of years of human history.The unique natural conditions and cultural atmosphere have bred rich regional culture.As an important part of the regional culture of Fugu,there is a close and profound connection between Fugu dialect and folk culture.At present,some achievements have been made in the ontological study of Fugu dialect and the study of Fugu folklore.However,there is still a lack of cross-over and overall study on the topic of Fugu dialect and folk culture,and more comprehensive and in-depth discussion is needed.Therefore,by sorting out,summarizing and analyzing the representative folk dialect words of Fugu dialect,the thesis summarized the folk cultural connotations carried by them.It will not only contribute to the protection and inheritance of Fugu dialect and traditional folk culture,but also can provide another idea for the study of Fugu dialect and enrich the relevant research results.This thesis is divided into three parts: introduction,body,and conclusion.In the introduction part,first of all,it defines the connotation of "dialect","folk culture" and "folk dialect words",then introduces the geographical and historical overview of Fugu County,as well as the attribution,division and phonology of Fugu dialect.Secondly,it respectively combs the research status of Chinese dialect and folk culture,Northern Shaanxi dialect and folk culture and Fugu dialect and folk culture,meanwhile it also summarizes the research results and existing deficiencies.At last,it expounds the significance and methods of the study,and explains the sources of the corpus.The four chapters of the body respectively discuss the relationship between Fugu dialect words and food culture,marriage culture,funeral culture and festival culture,and conclude each chapter with an analysis of the cultural content contained in the folk dialect words.The first chapter is about the study of Fugu dialect words and food culture.The dialect words about daily,festival and hospitality food culture reflect the cultural psychology of Fugu people to seek good luck and avoid evil,and express their character of simple and generous.The second chapter is about the study of Fugu dialect words and marriage culture.It classifies and interprets the dialect words about marriage culture in the chronological order of pre-marriage,formal marriage and post-marriage,from which we can observe the Fugu people’s ideology of worshipping husband power and attaching importance to procreation.The third chapter is about the study of Fugu dialect words and funeral culture.The dialect words which record the culture of initial funeral,hanging funeral,funeral,burial and sacrifice reflect Fugu people’s soul belief,as well as their emphasis and dependence on kinship.The fourth chapter studies Fugu dialect words and festival culture.The dialect words related to local traditional festival and special festival carry a rich folk culture.These words reveal the spiritual world of Fugu people who worship the deities and reflect people’s aspiration and pursuit of a better life.The conclusion summarizes the research results of this thesis and explains the shortcomings of this study.In the long course of history,there are many dialect words recording the culture about food,marriage,funeral and festival in Fugu.These words contained the folk culture with the characteristics of Fugu reflect the natural and social features of Fugu,and reveal the thinking habits,behavior patterns,psychological and personality traits of Fugu people.They come into being with the emergence of folk customs,but they will not disappear because of the disappearance of folk customs.Whether they remain in writing or are scattered orally,these dialect words carry the rich local culture of Fugu.
