Subject core literacy is the fundamental task of subject education,unit integral teaching is an important way to implement core literacy.According to the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition),teachers should focus on the unit theme,not only fully explore the value of education,but also clarify the unit teaching objectives and subject lines,and finally be able to study and analyze various texts and teaching resources within the unit(Ministry of Education,2022).It is found that in the process of junior high school English daily education,the emphasis on unit teaching is not enough,and the related research is a little rare.Therefore,the research questions of this study are as follows:(1)What problems exist in the overall teaching of junior high school units at present,and what are the reasons for these problems?(2)How to apply the unit teaching model to junior middle school English teaching?(3)How does the overall teaching of junior high school English unit affect junior high school students’ English learning performance and interest in English learning?The purpose of this project is to find out the problems in English unit teaching by understanding the current situation of English unit teaching in Yan ’an.Then combined with the requirements of English core literacy,explore the implementation of unit teaching,in order to optimize the learning effect of students and improve the efficiency of junior high school English classroom.Taking 165 teachers from four junior middle schools in Yan ’an(only for the investigation of current teaching situation)and 101 students from two classes of junior middle schools in Yan ’an(one class is the control class,the other is the experimental class)as the research object.Under the theoretical guidance of Gestalt psychology and holistic language teaching method,the research tools such as questionnaire survey,test and interview are used comprehensively.Focusing on the existing problems of unit teaching in junior middle school English and exploring the influence of unit teaching on junior middle school students’ English learning performance and interest in English learning,this paper explores how to apply unit teaching model to junior middle school English teaching after 18 weeks of teaching experiments.The results show that unit teaching has a significant effect on improving students’ English learning performance and interest.Through unit teaching,the students’ awareness of establishing English knowledge systematization has been enhanced,the efficiency of junior middle school English classroom has been improved,and the teachers’ teaching ability has been enhanced.
