The overall goal of the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022)is to hope that students can learn to explore independently,cooperate and help each other,and learn to reflect and evaluate in learning,so as to improve learning efficiency.For students in grades 7 to 9 in text reading,it is required to extract and summarize key information and understand the hidden meaning.This requires teachers to adjust their teaching strategies according to students’ learning conditions,stimulate students’ interest in learning in teaching,and actively explore novel and effective teaching methods.The "Guidance-Learning-Test" is a teaching mode that guides students to "learn first and teach later" based on effective teaching.It requires learners to clarify their learning goals in textual learning,cooperate in groups to complete reading,and verify learning efficiency through practice or evaluation.With such three-step classroom steps to help Students reading,make full use of the interactivity of the classroom,and promote the development of students’ thinking.This study,based on the theories of effective teaching and cooperative learning,utilizes survey questionnaires,tests,and interviews as research methods to investigate the application of the "Guidance-Learning-Test" teaching model in rural junior high school English reading classes.The aim is to address two research questions: "What is the impact of the ’Guidance-Learning-Test’ teaching model on students’ English reading learning grades?" and "What is the impact of the ’Guidance-Learning-Test’ teaching model on students’ interest in English reading?".This study selected 80 students from two classes in a junior high school in Jiaoxie Town,Linwei District,Weinan City as the research participants,and the teaching experiment lasted for four months.During the experiment,the experimental class adopted the "Guidance-Learning-Test" model for instruction,while the control class followed the traditional teaching model.The study found that the "Guidance-Learning-Test" teaching model helped improve students’ English reading scores.Additionally,through the analysis of questionnaire data and interviews,it was discovered that the "Guidance-Learning-Test" teaching model also contributed to enhancing students’ interest in English reading. |
