English reading is one of the basic qualities that students should have.Influenced by the traditional exam-oriented education,English teachers in junior high schools focus more on the study of English grammar and neglect to improve students’ English reading quality.However,in the high school entrance exam,the reading comprehension section accounts for a quarter of the total score.This requires English teachers to substantially improve the students’ reading comprehension level in accordance with the requirements of the new curriculum standards,so that to promote the teaching of English reading achieves good results.However,there are numerous problems in current English reading in junior middle school,such as lack of reading interest,insufficient reading confidence,low reading skills,and limited vocabulary.Therefore,educators need to find an effective reading strategy that can solve this series of problems.This paper aims to increase the efficiency of junior high school students’ comprehensible language input by implementing narrow language input to provide reference for improving the teaching efficiency of effective reading in junior high school English.The questions explored in this study are as follows:1.What effect does narrow reading have on junior high school students’ reading performance?2.What effect does narrow reading have on junior high school students’ English reading enthusiasm and reading habits?3.What are the teaching strategies to improve the effectiveness of junior high school students’ English reading under narrow reading theory?Taking the students of Shunde Shunfeng Middle School as the research object,the research was conducted by means of questionnaire surveys,pre-reading and postreading tests,teaching experiments and interviews.According to the data analysis,the following main conclusions are drawn:(1)Narrow reading is conducive to accumulating relevant vocabulary and improving reading performance;(2)Narrow reading is conducive to mobilizing non-intellectual factors and enhancing reading enthusiasm;(3)Narrow reading is conducive to enhancing self-control and developing good reading habits.Finally,through this teaching research,the following teaching inspirations are proposed: First,narrow reading attaches importance to students’ subjective needs.Therefore,reading teaching should start with the students’ leading needs,so that students can clearly understand the purpose of learning;Second,Narrow reading can effectively increase students ’ interest in reading,and interest is an important factor that stimulates students’ curiosity.Therefore,reading teaching should inspire students’ curiosity and stimulate students’ interest in knowledge;Third,narrow reading emphasizes that the high relevance of reading materials can reduce students’ anxiety and create a good learning atmosphere.Therefore,teaching should create a good atmosphere for students to have a successful experience in learning;Fourth,the relevance of narrow reading materials can improve the understanding and absorption of original knowledge to new knowledge,so teaching should be good at using the transfer of original motivation to arouse students’ enthusiasm for learning.Fifth,skillfully use the background of “Internet +” to combine narrow reading with “Internet+” to further enhance the effectiveness of narrow reading.
