A Study On Discourse Marker “Zhe Me Shuo Ba” In Modern Chinese

Taking the discourse marker“Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)”as the research object,this paper makes a comprehensive,specific and in-depth analysis of the formal features,semantic features,discourse and pragmatic functions of the high-frequency discourse marker“Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)”on the basis of fully absorbing previous research results and experience and based on a large amount of corpus.On this basis,the paper discusses the motivation and mechanism of“Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)”from diachronic and synchronic perspectives respectively,and compares the main similarities and differences of“Shi Zhe Yang(De)是这样(的)”which has the same basic function.This paper consists of six parts:In the introduction part,the origin and significance of the research of this paper are clarified,the relevant research status is sorted out,the research scope of this paper is defined,and the research method and the source of corpus are explained.The first chapter mainly describes the formal characteristics and co-occurrence forms of discourse marker“Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)”.Phonetically,discourse markers generally have independent intonation,which can be separated from other linguistic units by pauses or modal words.Syntactically independent,non-coercive and flexible,usually located in the first and middle of a sentence;Variations are varied,such as"Wo Gen Ni Zhe Me Shuo Ba(我跟你这么说吧)","Zhe Yang Shuo Ba(这样说吧)","Zhe Me Jiang Ba(这么讲吧)",etc.,and have a wide variety of co-occurrences.The second chapter mainly discusses the semantic relation and semantic characteristics of the preceding and following sentences connected by the discourse marker“Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)”.The discourse mark“Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)”has procedural meaning but no conceptual meaning,and the semantic relations connected by it include interpretive relations and interpretive relations.To be specific,interpretive relations can be subdivided into detailed relations,summary relations,illustrative relations,illustrative relations and illustrative relations.The relation of inferential interpretation contains two subclasses of causal inference and revealing inference.The semantic meaning of discourse marker“Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)”is complicated,sensitive and negative.Chapter three analyzes the function of discourse marker“Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)”from both textual and interpersonal aspects.The text function mainly includes two aspects:conversation wheel and topic.The former is mainly reflected in the construction function of the text,including the conversation circle construction function and the topic organization function.Among them,the function of conversation wheel construction can be subdivided into switching and continuation.The latter is mainly reflected in the topic organization,which is embodied in setting up the topic,developing the topic and changing the topic.The interpersonal interaction function includes four aspects:mark interpretation,draw attention to,show the card,weaken the language power,and delay the statement.Chapter four discusses the main similarities and differences between the discourse marker"Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)"and the form“Shi Zhe Yang(De)是这样(的)”with the same basic function from the perspective of synchronic.The basic function of both is marking interpretation,and both have the demonstrative pronoun"this"in the form,and"this"is postreferential.They also have something in common in the function of text and interpersonal interaction.It can be interchangeable in the context of conversation turning,development topic marking explanation,statement delay and so on.There are four main differences:“Shi Zhe Yang(De)是这样(的)”can be used at the end of a sentence,but"let me put it this way"cannot;“Shi Zhe Yang(De)是这样(的)”mainly refers to the explanatory category,"Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)"a mainly refers to the explanation in the way of elaboration and overview;“Shi Zhe Yang(De)是这样(的)”is more subjective;The“Shi Zhe Yang(De)是这样(的)”topic setting feature was used more frequently.From the diachronic perspective,this paper discusses the motivation and mechanism of discourse marker“Zhe Me Shuo Ba(这么说吧)”,which can be summed up as the postexponent of"Zhe(这)"and the grammaticalization of"Shuo(说)".The formation mechanism is mainly context absorption and speech subjectivism.The conclusion summarizes the whole paper and points out the main shortcomings.
