A Report On The Translation Of 2019 Annual Report Of Commonwealth Bank Of Australia

The present report is a study on the English-Chinese translation selected from 2019 Annual Report of Commonwealth Bank of Australia.The text is an economic informative text characterized by strong logic and rigorous language.Based on the “Comprehension,Expression,and Adaptation” Framework of Translation proposed by Li Changshuan,the report,guided by Skopos Theory,analyzes the text comprehensively,makes a description of the translation problems,and presents the following summary through case analyses: At the Comprehension stage,emphasis should be put on the accuracy of terminology and the contextual logic of the text.The meaning of the text is supposed to be understood through the context and with the help of search tools.At the Expression stage,the translation can be probed from four aspects,namely adjusting the word order,tackling complex sentences,using four-character structures and avoiding translationese to ensure the translation with smooth and natural language and make it acceptable to the readers.With regard to the way of Adaptation,certain information can be added or deleted appropriately to convey the meaning of the original text accurately.Hopefully the report can provide some references for the translation of similar economic informative texts.
