This translation practice report, based on the theoretical framework of Adaption Theory, analyzes the stylistic features of children’s literature from four aspects, including phonology, vocabulary, syntax and context.Based on the practice of Chinese translation of the first six chapters of the children’s literature Genesis Begins Again, the report aims to investigate the effective translation methods employed to adapt to the language expression habits and the aesthetic tastes of the target readers in the Chinese translation of children’s literature,so as to achieve pragmatic equivalence. At the phonological level, since Children’s language has a strong sense of rhythm, exclamations, onomatopoeia and Er-Hua words are used in translation, which not only conform to children’s phonetic habits, but also enhance the rhythm of the target language; At the lexical level, reduplicated words, degree adverbs and colloquial words are employed so as to increase children’s intimacy to the translation text and arouse their interest in reading; At the syntactic level, based on the characteristics of children and the differences between English and Chinese, segmentation of long sentences and adjustment of sentence order are adopted to adapt to the communicative object, that is,to use more simple and shorter sentences to avoid lengthy and obscure translation; At the context level, according to the specific contextual features, translators should take into consideration the dialogue context between different characters and the different tone and psychology to achieve the optimal dynamic adaptation of the translation.Adaption Theory, based on the translation practice,is found to play a guiding role in the E-C translation of children’s literature. It is shown that the Chinese translation of children’s literature is a process in which the translator dynamically adapts to the context of the original text and children’s reception to achieve the best pragmatic equivalence.
