With the increasing international cultural exchanges,in order to effectively promote the integration of Chinese higher education with international standards,it is necessary to improve the international competitiveness of Chinese higher education,promote its internationalization and establish a good brand and image of Chinese universities.Therefore,the role of cultural and creative products of colleges and universities has become increasingly prominent by introducing information on the education characteristics,development trends,cultural heritage,and academic achievements of Chinese universities to overseas scholars and foreign students.2020 marked the 125 th anniversary of the founding of Tianjin University.In order to fully display the culture and style to overseas scholars and students,the translation of cultural and creative products of Tianjin University is particularly important.This translation practice report is based on the translation of several articles in Tianjin University’s 125 th Anniversary Cultural and Creative Product “Going to the Sea”.The articles involve historical events of Tianjin University,well-known alumni,cultural development,student activities,etc.The contents are so rich and diverse in themes as well as the language styles that the translator needs to translate in a flexible way.In view of this,the translator took Eco-translatology Theory as the theoretical basis to complete this translation practice task,aiming to study the guiding significance of Eco-translatology theory to the translation of cultural and creative products.Eco-translatology Theory emphasizes the translator’s central position in the translation ecological environment,but at the same time the translator is also affected and restricted by other translation subjects and the translation environment.The translator needs to adapt to the ecological environment and choose translation strategies and methods in order to make readers accept the the translation,finally achieving the balance of the translation ecosystem.In view of this,the translator first fully understands of the content information of the cultural and creative products,takes “the Adaptive Selection of Translations” as the guiding principle,analyzes the characteristics of the text of the cultural and creative products,grasps the subject matter of the articles,and adopts addition,subtraction,conversion,reorganization and other translation techniques to translate the articles flexibly so as to convey cultural connotations while ensuring the accuracy of the translation,thereby achieving the communication purpose.This report includes four parts: The first,description of the translation task,in which the translation background,characteristics of the text and the significance of the task are mainly introduced.The second,description of the translation process,which includes the preparation of pre-translation,translation and revision process.The third,specific case analysis.With several cases,the author studies the strategies and skills of the cultural and creative product translation from multiple levels under the guidance of Eco-translatology.The fourth,summary of the translation practice.The author summarizes the attainments and shortcomings in order to provide reference for future translation study of this type of text.
