A Report On The Translation Of News Of School Of Science Of Tianjin University Under The Guidance Of Toury’s Translation Norms

In recent years,with the rapid development of Internet industry,online publicity plays an irreplaceable role in information exchange and delivery.Domestic colleges have seized the opportunity brought by the Internet to accelerate their own informatization construction,establishing their own news websites to provide assistance for school’s external publicity work.It is undeniable that the news websites are the key window for schools to show campus culture and students’ spiritual appearance while news translation is the key link to realize international publicity.This report is based on the author’s website news translation practice at School of Science of Tianjin University.The author selects some of the translated version of the practice as examples to explore how to translate college news under the guidance of Toury’s translation norms,and concludes the practical translation strategies and techniques.The author analyzes the characteristics of the news of School of Science of Tianjin University and combines them with the content of Toury’s translation norms,including preliminary norms,initial norms and operational norms,to explore the author’s choice in the process of translation,such as the reserving or abandoning of cultural elements,and the adjustment of words,sentences and texts.It is found that Toury’s translation norms can effectively guide the translator to choose the translation strategies and techniques.This report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the description of translation task,which covers four aspects: the background of translation task,task introduction,text features and task requirements.The second chapter is an overview of the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation implementation and post translation proofreading.The third chapter is case study of translation.This part first gives a brief introduction to Toury’s translation norms,then discusses the guiding role of Toury’s translation norms in the author’s translation practice,and finally lists some cases for analysis.The fourth part summarizes the research results and points out the shortcomings of translation practice.It is hoped that this report can contribute to the study of news translation in universities in the future.
