The Translation Practice Report On Binzhou Municipal Government Work Report In 2020 From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

Government work report has become a window for people to learn about China,and its translation directly affects China’s foreign-oriented publicity.In recent years,with the rapid economic development of China,work reports of provincial and municipal governments have gradually attracted great attention,and its English version plays a vital role in enhancing the popularity of provinces and cities,expanding foreign exchanges,strengthening economic exchanges,and promoting the development of cultural industries.The author chooses Binzhou Municipal Government Work Report in 2020 as the source text and analyses the translation practice under the guidance of Eco-translatology proposed by Professor Hu Gengshen.This paper aims to achieve the combination with theories and specific political translation practices through three-dimensional transformation,thus improving the readability and acceptability of local government work reports and providing new perspectives and insights for political text translation.This translation report is divided into the following four parts:the first chapter describes the translation task including the language and structural characteristics of the government report and task background;the second chapter introduces the translation process,so as to grasp the text in a macroscopic manner;the third chapter makes an in-depth analysis of some phenomena from the translation practice in the light of Eco-translatology,and some translation methods in three-dimensional transformation such as omission,amplification and free translation are utilized to deal with phenomena including formal words,Chinese characteristics with repetition,parallel and abbreviation,graphic expressions,the culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics,expressions about Chinese history,long and difficult sentences,as well as Chinese sentences without subjects;the fourth chapter summarizes the author’s reflections and limitations of the translation practice,so as to make some contributions to political text translation.
