A Report On The C-E Translation Of Global Communication Texts Of Jinan International Community Construction Project From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation Theory

In the context of globalization,the translation is an important way for China to go to the world and show its national image on the international stage.It is also an important channel for the world to understand China.Since 2021,with Lixia District taking the lead,Jinan has been carrying out its international community construction project,which mainly involves the Chinese-English translation construction of public service facilities,websites and urban service mini programs in the district.On the one hand,it provides convenience for foreigners living and traveling in Jinan;and on the other hand,it aims to improve the level of internationalization and standardize the related international communication texts translation.During this period,the author of this report undertook part of the Chinese-English translation,mainly responsible for translating the content of We Chat mini program of community public service,including the basic overview of the community,introduction of functional areas,community management and Party building brand.These texts are used as both convenience guide for foreigners in Jinan and the promotional materials for the city.It is required that translator of this project should always focus on target readers,ensure that the translation can be accepted by readers and achieve the goal of city image improving.The communicative translation theory proposed by Newmark emphasizes that the effect produced by the translation should strive to be close to the source text,trying to translate the exact context meaning of the source text,so that the translation can be accepted by readers in both content and language form.This proposition fits in with the purpose of this translation task and provides effective theoretical guidance for translator in the process of translation.Containing six chapters,this report serves as a summary of the translation task.Chapter One is the introduction,which introduces the background,significance and the overall structure of the report.Chapter Two analyzes the source texts of the translation task,including the main contents and the linguistics characteristics.Chapter Three presents the translation process,which is mainly divided into three stages: pre-translation preparation,challenges met and difficulties overcome during translation and post-translation proofreading.Chapter Four introduces the communicative translation theory,focusing on its background and main arguments and analyzing its applicability.Chapter Five takes communicative translation theory as guidance and analyzes the translation techniques adopted on the basis of specific cases,including omission,addition and shift at the lexical level,division and voice conversion at the syntactic level,and combination and restructuring at the textual level.Chapter Six concludes the whole report and contains a summary of the report and a reflection on the translation work.Through this report,the experience and what need to be improved in this translation practice are summarized,hoping to bring useful inspiration or references to other translators and to contribute to translation work and research of global communication texts.
