| Artificial intelligence is setting off a wave of application in various industries, promoting the society from the Internet era to the AI era.AI-based education has become an important starting point for education informatization to promote education modernization in the new era.At the Fourth AI+Adaptive Education(AIAED),Deloitte released Global Development of AI-based Education, whose concrete contents include “Introduction to AI-based education”,“Analysis of AI-based education systems”,“AI is transforming education industry”,“Trends of investment in AI-based education” and“Future challenges, prospect and thinking of AI-based education”.It is of great significance to both develop AI-based education and popularize its knowledge. The current status and development of AIbased education in the world, and the research findings of professional institutions in this field can be shared systematically with the public by the report. The English-to-Chinese Translation Task of Global Development of AI-based Education(Excerpts)popularizes the development status and related knowledge of AI-based education to industry insiders and interested readers, provides learners with basic knowledge of AI-based education and cultivates their talents of science literacy,so as to promote the development of the social spiritual civilization and material civilization, which will help implement the strategy of invigorating China through science and education. For the translator, this translation practice is a good opportunity to put Newmark’s Text Typology Theory into translation practice, which is conducive to improving the comprehensive practical ability of the translator. Most of the papers about Newmark’s Text Typology Theory are related to theoretical application, especially based on manual translation, contract translation and public sign translation. However, there is a lack of research on the translation of report-type informative texts based on Newmark’s Text Typology Theory at present. In addition, most studies on translation strategies for informative texts are based on textbooks, monographs, contracts, etc.,while there are only a few studies on translation strategies for reporttype informative texts.A Report on the English-to-Chinese Translation of Global Development of AI-based Education(Excerpts)is a translation report based on Global Development of AI-based Education(Excerpts),aiming to summarize the problems encountered in the translation of report-type informative texts and study the translation methods and skills used to solve such problems under the guidance of Newmark’s Text Typology Theory,so as to provide reference for the translation of such texts.Under the guidance of Newmark’s Text Typology Theory, the translator translated the source text. With communicative translation and semantic translation as the guiding strategies, the translator analyzed the source text and studied relevant cases at the lexical level, syntactical level, textual level and stylistic level. The translation report finds that,at the lexical level, the general web-based search strategy of terminology translation can be adopted as a scientific reference method for enterprise names and scientific and technological terms and conversion of word classes can be used to narrow language differences in E-C translation;at the syntactical level, dividing sentences, conversion between passive voice and active voice, and repositioning attribute composition can be applied to conform to the syntactic expression habits and writing characteristics of the translated text. The translation report also finds that,at the textual level, reforming the logic and ensuring coherence can make the target text flow freely with clear logic and natural coherence;at the stylistic level, maintaining professionalism and popularity can reproduce the original language style of such report-type informative texts.Newmark’s communicative translation attempts to produce on its readers an effect as close as possible to that obtained on the readers of the original, and sematic translation attempts to render,as closely as the semantic and syntactic structures of the second language allow, the exact contextual meaning of the original, which are applicable to report-type informative texts.Meanwhile,it is hoped that the translation strategies and methods can be of benefit to translators engaged in such texts. |
