| The report reviews the interpreter’s experience in an online workshop entitled Continuous Professional Development Training in Student Wellbeing and Support(SWAS)organized by Oxford Prospects and Global Development Institute.The interpreter was employed by the institute for three of the lectures,providing online consecutive interpreting from English to Chinese for Shandong University’s faculty members.The three lectures were delivered by different professors,centering on different topics ranging from access to Oxford,financial support for university students to recruitment and admissions.Drawing on Chesterman’s models on translation ethics,the writer analyzes the ethical issues encountered in this interpreting task.She selects typical examples and categorizes them into ethics of representation,ethics of service,ethics of communication,norm-based ethics and ethics of commitment.By examining these examples,she reflects on the translation techniques used to cope with the ethical issues,reasons for her choices of techniques,and corresponding translation effect.In this report,the interpreter reviews her practice from the perspective of Chesterman’s models on translation ethics.She hopes that the report could provide insight into the interpreters’ ethics in the field of remote interpreting. |
