Unit integrated teaching is based on the unit to carry out teaching design,implementation and evaluation.In recent years,with the use of the new textbooks published by the People’s Education Press for senior high schools and the publication of English Curriculum Standards for Regular High School revised in 2020 by the edition of 2017,unit integrated teaching idea is applied in the practice of each discipline gradually.The research of unit integrated teaching in English subject mainly focuses on the primary and junior high schools,and the systematic practical researches in senior high schools are rare,moreover,although the existing researches regard the unit as a whole and carry out the teaching around the unit theme,they neglects the in-depth exploration of the significance of unit theme and the integration of the unit content,which makes it difficult for students to form an in-depth knowledge of the unit theme.Therefore,this paper will draw on the previous researches to explore the theme-based unit integrated teaching design ideas and implementation of the path in senior high school.This action research adopts the methods of questionnaire,interview and test paper to study the following three questions: 1.How can unit integrated teaching design based on themes be used in senior high school English teaching? 2.What influence does this teaching model have on senor high school students’ English achievement? 3.What influence does this teaching model have on senior high school students’ English learning interests? In this study,senior high school students in L county high school are the subjects of the study.The three steps of design-implementation-reflection are followed.Through two rounds of action research to constantly improve the implementation path of teaching design,finally,author establishes the implementation framework of teaching design,which is “Relevance interpretation,main line determination;goal establishment,competencies surrounding;content integration,class refinement;main lines connection,activities design;assignment arrangement,teaching reflection”.The author uses SPSS26.0 software to verify the effectiveness of the theme-based unit integrated teaching by comparing the pre-test of first round of action research and post-test of second round of action.The results show that the application of theme-based unit integrated teaching design in senior high school English teaching can not only improve students’ English performance to a certain extent,but also promote students’ learning interest from three aspects: behavioral attitude,emotional tendency and value orientation. |
