| As is known to all,oil is an important energy source for the development of modern economy. With the vigorous development of oil technology and oil industry,a large number of oil literature and materials are produced.Oil English is characterized by its special terminology, complex sentence structure and strong logic, which makes it more difficult to translate. The source text in this translation project is selected from Volatility in the Crude Oil and Natural Gas Markets(Chapter 2).In this project, the translator applies Skopos theory to the translation practice, and uses three principles of Skopos theory, namely the purpose principle, the coherence principle and the fidelity principle,to solve the problems encountered in the translation practice from the lexical, syntactic and discourse levels. At the lexical level,in the translation of terms and acronyms, translation techniques such as literal translation, zero translation and incremental translation were adopted. At the syntactic level, sequential translation, split translation, conversion, adding words were applied. At the textual level, translation techniques such as conversion, addition or omission of transitional words and phrases were employed. It is hoped that this report may provide reference for future translation of similar texts in the future. |
