Sergei Vassilievitch Rachmaninoff(1873-1943)was a Russian composer and performer.Rachmaninoff’s compositions cover a wide range,including piano solo,concerto,symphony,vocal music,etc.His music creation holds the style of Russian national music,and has played a crucial role in the development of piano music art in Russia and the world.Rachmaninoff’s Prelude Op.23 No.5,which is studied in this paper,is the fifth of his 24 piano preludes.Starting from the creation background,the author makes a detailed analysis of the development of theme melody,musical form and harmony of the work,and studies the control of touch keys and timbre as well as the use of pedals,so as to better perform this work.Through the collection and analysis of the relevant literature and data of this paper,we can further improve the in-depth understanding of Rachmaninoff’s piano works,so as to better play this piece of work.
