In recent years, major countries have invested heavily in quantum computing research. The competition among technology giants represented by Google,IBM,Microsoft and Intel has promoted the development of quantum computing technology. In China, initiatives such as the National Innovation-Driven Development Strategy and the National Medium-and Long-Term Program for Science and Technology Development(2006-2020)have repeatedly stressed the importance of quantum development as a key S&T project. The source text of this practice report is excerpted from the Book Quantum Computing:Challenges and Opportunities by American writer Michael Erbschloe.Through a search in CNKI database, the translator finds that the domestic translation practice reports using English-Chinese contrastive thought mainly focus on the foreign language and literature and the art theory, and there is still a research gap in quantum translation practice report.Based on the comparison ideas Professor Lian Shuneng puts forward in his book Contrastive Studies of English and Chinese, the translator analyzes the examples in this translation practice, summarizes the translation problems and solutions and puts forward the translation strategy structure of this paper strategies accordingly. From the perspective of English-Chinese comparison, and by reading parallel texts and using the Internet, the translator divided the source text language characteristics into three sectors: passive, stative and abstract, and transforms them into active, dynamic and specific Chinese expressions. The translator found that English often uses more structural passives because of agent and syntactic needs, and less notional passives. The translator transformed such sentences into active sentences, subjectless sentences or receptor subject; The stative tendency of English caused by the extensive use of nouns, prepositions and some static structures can be dealt with through the use of verbs and verb phrases; The abstraction caused by nominalization can be solved by adding Chinese specific category words. Finally, the translator made a reflection and summary on the translation practice and thesis writing process. This translation practice deepens the translator’s understanding in quantum computing and translation of popular science texts, enriches her translation experience and also provides a certain help to MTI translation practice and report writing on quantum technologies guided by English-Chinese comparison.
