The Sandwich Story Method is a method of teaching a foreign language through storytelling in which the student’s native language is interspersed with the foreign language.This study takes this teaching method as the research object to explore its origin,development and application in second language teaching at home and abroad.Therefore,this study takes the connection between the Sandwich Story Method and the teaching of elementary Chinese as a foreign language as the basis,and hypothesizes that this teaching method can be applied to the teaching of elementary Chinese as a foreign language to solve the problems and promote the development of the teaching of elementary Chinese as a foreign language.The study is based on the hypothesis that this method can be applied to the teaching of elementary Chinese as a foreign language,solving the problems and promoting the development of elementary Chinese reading classes.Based on the implementation process of this teaching method,this study selects a dialogue text and a narrative text from the Chinese Language Course and adapts them according to the principles and teaching methods of this teaching method.This study will use the adapted text as the basis for teaching design using the Sandwich Story Method.The instructional design consists of three parts.First,the content of the general reading lesson is confirmed: the vocabulary,grammar,text,and post-lesson feedback are confirmed to be in accordance with the principles and methods of the method and the learning level of the students.Next,the design of the lesson is explained,including the principles and methods of the design.Finally,by way of example,the design will explain in detail the target audience and the real experimental audience,the objectives to be accomplished by the design,the design process and results of the content,and the detailed teaching steps and teaching materials.After the teaching design is completed,the study will select the students at the appropriate learning stage and native language background and put the teaching design into practice,so as to conclude that "the Sandwich Story Method can be applied to the teaching of elementary Chinese as a foreign language".The study concluded that "the Sandwich Story Method can be applied to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language".At the same time,the objective and subjective effects of this teaching method in the elementary Chinese as a foreign language class will be investigated by comparing it with a class without this teaching method,testing its effectiveness twice,and interviewing the learners.At the end of the study,we will analyze the advantages,problems and difficulties of the Sandwich Story Method through the tests and interviews,and make suggestions for its implementation.
