Adrian Ghenie and Corneliu Baba are both Romanian oil painters.The former is a painter who has been active in the international artistic community in recent years in the era after the birth of the Internet,while the latter is an old painter who combined traditional oil painting with national culture and brought great influence to oil painting in the20 th century.They were born in the same area at different times and were mainly engaged in figurative painting.They share common era of intersection point on the time period of1977-1997,on the whole period of history and culture reaction for them under the communist ideology has been experiencing a period of Romania,has experienced the war caused political instability,natural disaster,the international environment,poor experience depression period,and the effects of different degree of ideology influence.Since Adrian Ghenie is still painting more pictures,I choose his early paintings(from 2007 to 2015:It is divided into two stages,2007-2009 is the period of black painting,since 2009 Gurney began to experiment with color)compared with the painting works of Corneliu Baba,selected the most illustrative representative works,mainly from the perspective of figure painting,at the same time,due to the domestic research literature on Ghenie is not much,I choose Francis Bacon,a painter who had a great influence on Ghenie,to analyze the expression characteristics of modeling language in Ghenie’s paintings,so as to better study the development enlightenment brought by Ghenie and Baba.From the perspective of fine arts,philosophy,literature and history,this paper mainly uses the method of comparative study,example analysis,chromatography and literature analysis to study the two artists of different times in Romania,Adrian Ghenie and Corneliu Baba,who were born in the same area and lived in different times.The individuality and commonness presented by the two artists’figurative paintings explore the possibilities of figurative paintings in the development of The Times.The thesis is mainly divided into four parts.Each part has its own corresponding subtitle:The author lists the first half of the subtitle based on several commonalities of the two artists’works,and looks for their respective personalities to form the second half of the subtitle.The first part mainly expounds the time intersection of Ghenie and Baba and excavates the historical background they experienced together.The second part briefly describes the artistic career of the two artists and their understanding of studying from masters when they visited abroad after being imprisoned in literature and art.The third and fourth part is an important part of this paper.The third part compares the individuality and commonness of the two painters’figure paintings from the perspective of subject matter,and summarizes their existential philosophy.In their paintings,there are three themes of the suffering crowd,tragicomedy and religion,but the objects they choose are different.The fourth part compares the individuality and commonness of the two painters from the point of painting modeling language,which is carried out from four aspects:color characteristics,force movement,elements of point,line and plane,and sketches.Force of the movement performance,in the form of inward and outward,is in the pictures and the artist’s hands.The traces made with tools such as palette knives and scrapers reflect the artist’s special way of painting in which his hands create chaos first and his eyes arrange order later.In this process,oil paint stretches on the picture with a sense of movement,and the expression of oil paint gets a new tension in two-dimensional space just like three-dimensional space;On the basis of summarizing the research results,the conclusion briefly describes some inspirations of my painting creation. |
