A Study On The Semantic Grammar Of Psychological Verbs Of Fear In Medieval Chinese

Psychological verbs are a special category of Chinese verbs.Many scholars have classified and refined them from different angles and using different theories,and the research results are very fruitful.However,at present,most of the research results on psychological verbs are based on the materials in modern Chinese,lacking the results of carefully combing the internal members of psychological verbs from the perspective of Chinese history.From the perspective of Chinese history,the semantic characteristics of each word should have its historical development source.Therefore,the author chooses to trace back to the ancient times to explore the origin of psychological verbs.Taking a small category of psychological verbs-"fear" as the research object,the author specifically focuses on the semantic and grammatical characteristics of these words in the middle ages.This paper consists of four parts:The first chapter is introduction.This chapter mainly introduces the reason of topic selection,research review,research object and method,the source of research corpus and the determination criteria.The literature review focuses on the research progress of psychological verbs,including the definition,criteria and classification of psychological verbs.At the same time,it also gives a detailed review of the current research results of "fear" psychological verbs,and points out the specific progress of the current research on this kind of psychological verbs.The second chapter is the semantic research of "fear" psychological verbs in medieval times.According to the criteria in the introduction,this chapter puts the research object of this paper into the corpus of the middle ages,and then classifies the psychological verbs of "fear" from the perspective of monosyllabic and polysyllabic.Then according to the different characteristics of the two groups of research objects,it discusses and analyzes them from different angles.Among the monosyllabic "fear" psychological verbs,this paper mainly discusses the object of this study through the four steps of sound and meaning analysis,dictionary interpretation,semantic structure analysis and corpus comparison.The author regards the polysyllabic "fear" psychological verbs as a whole,and analyzes the common characteristics of these objects in detail,such as the change of combination and the change of word meaning.The third chapter is the grammar research of "fear" psychological verbs in the middle ages.This chapter mainly studies the syntactic function and predicative function of these psychological verbs.From the perspective of syntactic function,the grammatical function of "fear" psychological verbs and verbs is basically the same,mainly used as predicate in sentences.However,from the corpus in the middle ages,the psychological verbs of "fear" can not be used as complements.Later,with the development of language,these psychological verbs can be used as complements in sentences in modern Chinese.From the perspective of predicative function,this kind of psychological verb has the most complete types of object and adverbial,less types of complement and more degree complement.The fourth chapter analyzes the characteristics and causes of "fear" psychological verbs in the middle ages.This chapter first summarizes the specific characteristics of this kind of psychological verbs from the semantic and grammatical aspects,such as the magnitude and difference of this kind of words,the common situation of the same morpheme and different order,and the phenomenon of categorization in this kind of words.Then the author analyzes the causes from the aspects of language selfdevelopment and cognitive factors,and holds that the characteristics of this kind of psychological verbs are mainly related to language self-development and cognitive factors.
