| China,as a multi-ethnic country with long history and magnificent culture,pays more and more attention to the inheritance and dissemination of the minor ethnic culture.As a significant cultural carrier,literature contains profound national spirits and cultural connotations.Therefore,the translation of minor ethnic literary works will help the minor ethnic culture present on the international stage and win the world acceptance and recognition.Jidi Majia was born in Yi ethnic group Autonomous Prefecture of Liangshan Mountain,and is now a poet,writer and vice chairman of the China Writers Association.As a poet of the Yi ethnic group writing in Chinese,he uses delicate words to depict the ideological culture and daily life of the Nuosu people and vividly constructs the unique cultural images of Yi ethnic group.Jidi Majia’s poems have been translated into more than twenty languages and transmitted to more than sixty countries.His literary works have been highly appreciated by readers at home and abroad and won a number of international awards,such as the 2014 Mkiva Humanitarian Awards,the 2017 Polish Janitzki Literature Award,the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award of Silver Willow Poetry of Cambridge University.Deconstructive translation theory originates from the linguistic philosophers’ thinking on the nature of language and meaning,and is an application of deconstructive theory in translation studies.Deconstructive translation theory is mainly represented by French philosopher Jacques Derrida,German philosopher Walter Benjamin,American translation theorist Lawrence Venuti.Their brand new and deep thoughts on language,meaning and translation have overturned the inherent concepts in the traditional translation studies and endowed the translators with a new perspective to reconsider and revalue their creativity and subjectivity.This thesis takes Denis Mair’s English translation of Jidi Majia’s poems as the research object and deconstructive translation theory as the theoretical basis.It focuses on the analysis of the deconstruction of Jidi Majia’s poetry by the translator Denis Mair in his translation.Another aim of this thesis is to find a research method that can be used for reference in literary translation,especially the minor ethnic literary translation. |
