Objective(s):To research the efficacy and safety of type I collagen in the treatment of facial skin photoaging in the plateau area through several evaluation methods. Methods: This research compared the condition of the patient before and after treatment. From June 2021 to April 2022,a total of 20 patients in Kunming received type I collagen intradermal injection to treat their skin photoaging. Each patient received 6 treatments with an interval of 4 weeks ± 3 days.VISIA skin detector was used to collect the feature counts of facial skin spots, wrinkles, texture, pores,UV spots, brown spots, red areas, and porphyrins before treatment or 2 weeks ± 3 days after treatment. The ultrasonic probe of the Dermalab skin detector was used to detect the skin thickness of the cheek part, zygomatic part and temporal part, and the patients were asked to complete Face-Q-Satifaction With Skin and Face-Q-Satifaction With Facial Appearance Overall. The patients were asked to fill in Face-Q-Adverse Effects:Skin 2 weeks ±3 days after each treatment. When the last treatment was done, the patients completed the Face-Q-Satifaction With Outcome,Face-Q-Satifaction With Decision,Face-Q-Social Function and Face-Q-Psychological Function.Results:(1)Each of the 20 patients received 6 treatments. The skin thickness of the right cheek increased after each treatment while the skin thickness of the left cheek increased from the third to the sixth treatment. The skin thickness of the right zygomatic part increased after the second to the sixth treatment, while the skin thickness of the left zygomatic part increased from the fourth to the sixth treatment. The skin thickness of the temporal part increased after the fifth and sixth treatment. The above-mentioned difference was of statistical significance(P<0.05).The change in skin thickness in other treatments was of no statistical significance(P>0.05).Skin ultrasound images showed that the skin thickness after six treatments were increased after each treatment.(2)The red areas feature count decreased after each of the six treatment,as did the wrinkle feature count. The above-mentioned difference was of statistical significance(P>0.05).The red areas showed in VISIA decreased after each treatment. The feature count of other parameters is of no statistical significance(P>0.05).(3)The scores of Face-Q-Satifaction With Facial Appearance Overall and Face-Q-Satifaction With Skin after six treatments were higher after each treatment. The difference was of statistical significance(P < 0.01).The scores of Face-Q-Satifaction With Outcome,Face-Q-Satifaction With Decision,Face-Q-Social Function,Face-Q-Psychological Function and Face-Q-Adverse Effects: Skin were67.05±15.50,83.8 ±14.50,76.5 ±8.7,78.75±7.5 and 13.85±3.82 respectively. The overall appearance of the subjects was improved after therapy. Conclusion(s): Type I collagen intradermal injection is effective against skin photoaging of patients in the plateau area. The treatment helps repair red areas and increase skin thickness.Patients who receive the treatment show few adverse reactions and are satisfied with the results. Therefore, type I collagen intradermal injection is proven to be effective as a way to deal with Facial Skin photoaging in strong ultraviolet areas.
