Objective By utilizing the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth Edition(WISC-IV)and Das-Naglieri Cognitive Assessment System(DN:CAS),we can analyze the distinct characteristics of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD)in children. Moreover, the combination of these assessments holds significant potential in terms of its application value for assessing children with ADHD.Methods Forty-two children with ADHD,who had been receiving medical care in the Affiliated Hospital of Hangzhou Normal University’s pediatric outpatient department from December 01,2021 to December 31,2022,were chosen as the control group, while thirty others who had been physically examined in the same department were randomly selected.A multivariate Logistic regression analysis was conducted to ascertain the independent influencing factors, following a comparison of gender, age, and various measures between the two groups. The application value of the WISC-IV,DN:CAS,and joint indicators was determined by subject characteristic curve.Results1.ADHD children showed slower processing speed than the control group in WSC-IV(P < 0.05).However,there were no significant differences in verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, and working memory between the two groups(all P > 0.05).Additionally,in DN:CAS,the total score, planning, and attention scores were lower in ADHD children compared to the control group(all P < 0.05).However,no significant differences were observed between the two groups in simultaneous processing and sequential processing(all P > 0.05).2.An analysis of logistic regression showed that planning was the independent factor for children suffering from ADHD(OR = 0.923,P < 0.05).3.The correlation coefficient between the total IQ of WISC-IV of ADHD children and the total score of DN:CAS and the results of sequential processing test was0.6~0.8.The correlation coefficients between WISC-IV perceptual reasoning and DN:CAS total score and sequential processing test were between 0.6 and 0.8.The correlation coefficients between WISC-IV working memory and DN:CAS total score, simultaneous processing and successive processing were between 0.6 and 0.8.4.The area under the ROC curve for WSC-IV processing speed,DN:CAS planning, and attention were 0.65,0.73,and 0.70(all P < 0.05),respectively,with a sensitivity of 77%,76%,and 83% and a specificity of 52%,76%,and 62%.When these two tests were combined, the area under the ROC curve increased to 0.79(P < 0.05),with a sensitivity of 67% and a specificity of 87%.5.The total score, planning, attention, simultaneous processing and sequential processing in DN:CAS of ADHD combined with borderline intelligence function group were lower than those of ADHD non-borderline intelligence function group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P < 0.05).Conclusions1.ADHD children had defects in WSC-IV processing speed, total score of DN:CAS,planning and attention.2.Planning is an independent factor in children with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder.3.There was a high correlation between WISC-IV and DN:CAS in ADHD children.4.The combination test of WISC-IV and DN:CAS has higher specificity and can be more effective in the assessment of ADHD children.5.Children with ADHD combined with Borderline Intellectual Function have more extensive cognitive impairment.
