ObjectiveThis study analyzed the disease spectrum and epidemic characteristics of pre-hospital emergency patients in Guangzhou based on the novel coronavirus outbreak,to understand the dynamic changes of people’s potential health needs,as well as the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic,a global respiratory infectious disease pandemic,on the change of disease spectrum and emergency demand of Guangzhou citizens. Methods:The pre-hospital disease spectrum of Guangzhou Emergency Medical Command Center before the epidemic(from 0:00 January 1,2014 to 24:00 December 31,2019)and after the epidemic(from 0:00 January 1,2020 to December 31,2021)were statistically analyzed. Results:The 120 total call volume of Guangzhou showed an increasing trend year by year, which were 137565 cases in 2014,138586 cases in 2015,141755 cases in 2016,147244 cases in 2017,148780 cases in 2018,156566 cases in 2019 and 142691 cases in 2020,respectively.In 2021,there were 158,510 cases, with a decrease in 2020 and a recovery in 2021.In 2020 and 2021 during the epidemic period, respiratory system emergencies, circulatory system emergencies and circulatory system emergencies increased compared with those before the epidemic(p < 0.001 for each system emergency, the difference was statistically significant). Before and during the epidemic, the top three emergency systems were trauma, nervous system and circulatory system. Before and during the epidemic, the ranking order of the top 3diseases in each system did not change, but the proportion did change, and the major changes were acute dyspnea, acute chest pain, traffic accidents, impact injuries, fever. Conclusion:After the COVID-19 outbreak, the disease spectrum of pre-hospital emergency care in Guangzhou has changed, among which the patients with respiratory emergencies and fever have an upward trend. The establishment of pre-hospital emergency symptom monitoring system in the command system of pre-hospital emergency care in Guangzhou may help to detect the epidemic of infectious diseases early and monitor its development. The relevant emergency plan and treatment process were improved according to the epidemiological distribution characteristics. |
