| Objective To analyze the efficacy of Fufang Duzhong Decoction on degenerative meniscus injury induced by liver-kidney deficiency,thus providing theoretical references for the application of Fufang Duzhong Decoction.MethodsA total of 60 eligible patients with degenerative meniscus injury induced by liver-kidney deficiency who were treated in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology,Zhangzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Affiliated to Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to December 2022.They were randomly divided into control group(n=30)and experimental group(n=30).Oral celecoxib and proprioceptive training were given to patients of both groups,and Fufang Duzhong Decoction was additionally given to those of experimental group.A 4-week treatment was performed in both groups.The range of motion(ROM)scores of the knee,Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores and Lysholm knee scores were graded before treatment,and 2,4 and 8 weeks of treatment.TCM syndromes were compared before treatment and 8 weeks of treatment.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0.Results1.There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics like gender,affected side of knee joint,and course of disease between control group and experimental group(P>0.05),suggesting that baseline characteristics of both groups were comparable.2.There were no significant differences in the ROM scores of the affected knee,VAS scores and Lysholm knee scores before treatment between control group and experimental group(P>0.05).3.ROM scores of the affected knee: There were significant differences in the ROM scores of the affected knee in both groups at 2,4 and 8 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).There were signifi-cant differences in the ROM scores of the affected knee at 2,4 and 8 weeks of treatment between control group and experimental group(P<0.05).4.VAS scores: There were significant differences in VAS scores of the affected knee in both groups at 2,4 and 8 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).There were significant differences in VAS scores of the affected knee at 2,4 and 8 weeks of treatment between control group and experimental group(P<0.05).5.Lysholm knee scores: There were no significant differences in Lysholm knee scores at 2 we-eks of treatment compared with those before treatment in both groups(P>0.05).There were significant differences in Lysholm knee scores at 4 and 8 weeks of treatment compared with those before treatment in both groups(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in Lysh-olm knee scores at 2 weeks of treatment between control group and experimental group(P>0.05).There were significant differences in Lysholm knee scores at 4 and 8 weeks of treatment between control group and experimental group(P<0.05).6.Efficacy on TCM syndromes: knee symptoms at 8 weeks of treatment were analyzed.There were 1(3.33%)cured case,22(73.33%)relieved cases and 7(23.33%)uncured cases in cont-rol group,respectively,with the overall efficacy of 76.66%.There were 6(20.00%)cured case,21(70.00%)relieved cases and 3(10.00%)uncured cases in experimental group,respectively,with the overall efficacy of 90.00%.The overall efficacy was significantly higher in the experimental group than that of control group(P=0.030).7.Adverse events.During the treatment period,2 cases of nausea and vomiting in the experim-ental group,and 1 case of epigastric discomfort in the control group were reported,which we-re self-relieved one day later.Medical advices were informed to patients with adverse events.ConclusionsFufang Duzhong Decoction effectively improves ROM and alleviates pain of the affected knee,and enhances the quality of life in patients with degenerative meniscus injury induced by liver-kidney Yin deficiency.The clinical efficacy of Compound Duzhong Decoction is better than that of proprioceptive training.Therefore,Compound Duzhong Decoction is an effective and safe option to the treatment of degenerative meniscus injury induced by liverkidney deficiency. |
