Objective:The purpose of this study was to introduce and modify Williams life skills training in combination with the characteristics of Chinese patients with alcohol dependence, and to explore its effect of Williams life skills training on the level of anxiety and depression, coping style,stress,self-efficacy and relapse rate of patients with alcohol dependence. Methods:A total of 82 male alcohol-dependent patients admitted to the Internet Addiction Department of Alcohol Addiction in a Mental Health Center of Changsha from April 2020 to July 2020 were selected as research subjects by convenient sampling. They were divided into intervention group(n=41)and control group(n=41)randomly.The control group received a 4-week health education course on alcohol dependence, and the intervention group received Williams Life Skills Training(WLST)twice a week on the basis of the 4-week health education course.Thirty-seven participants in the intervention group and35 in the control group completed the study.Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7),Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9),Chinese Perceived Stress Scale(CPSS),General Self-efficacy Scale(GSES),and Trait Coping Style Questionnaire(TCSQ)were evaluated before and 3months after intervention.Three months after intervention, the redrinking rate of the two groups was calculated.SPSS23.0 was used for statistical analysis, independent sample T test,Chi-square(?~2)test and repeated measure analysis of variance were used to analyze the effects of intervention on GAD-7,PHQ-9,CPSS,GSES,TCSQ scores and re-drinking rate 3 months after intervention.Results:1.The levels of GAD-7,PHQ-9,CPSS,GSES and TCSQ were not significant in the study group and the control group before the intervention(p>0.05).2.Repeated measurement analysis of variance:(1)GAD-7、PHQ-9The scores of GAD-7 and PHQ-9 in the intervention group were8.30?5.17 and 10.97?6.11 before the intervention,4.49?3.02 and5.08?4.69 after the intervention.the scores of GAD-7 and PHQ-9 in the control group were 7.26?5.90 and 9.03?6.29 before intervention,7.89?4.26 and 9.94?4.94 after intervention.Repeated measures analysis of variance showed that main intervention effect, main time effect on GAD-7 and PHQ-9 were significant(P<0.05).Interaction between time and intervention on GAD-7 and PHQ-9 was significant(P<0.05).Two-independent sample t-test was conducted for the interaction factor.GAD-7 and PHQ-9 in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Interaction diagram indicated that GAD-7 and PHQ-9 in intervention group were lower than that of control group over time after intervention.(2)CPSS、GSES、TCSQThe scores of CPSS,GSES,positive coping style and negative coping style in the intervention group before intervention were37.65?4.30,21.81?6.42,28.49?3.31 and 28.62?4.99.CPSS,GSES,positive coping style and negative coping style scores of the intervention group were 32.32?4.15,27.19?5.27,35.32?2.64 and 22.68?5.39.The scores of CPSS,GSES,positive coping style and negative coping style in the control group were 36.06?5.60,21.60?6.41,27.46?2.94 and27.60?4.17 before intervention,37.43?3.58,20.06?5.42,27.03?3.79 and27.26?5.71 after intervention.Repeated measures analysis of variance showed that main intervention effect, main time effect on CPSS,GSES,positive coping style and negative coping style were significant(P<0.05).Interaction between time and intervention on CPSS,GSES,positive coping style and negative coping style were significant(P<0.05).Two-independent sample t-test was conducted for the interaction factor.CPSS and the score of negative coping in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group, while GSES and the score of positive coping of TCSQ in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Interaction diagram indicated that CPSS and the score of negative coping in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group, over time after intervention, while GSES and the score of positive coping of TCSQ in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group.3.re-drinking rateAll patients were followed up for 3 months, the situation of re-drinking was recorded, and the re-drinking rate of each group was calculated. There were 12 cases in the intervention group and 21cases in the control group, accounting for 32.4%and 60%,respectively.The results showed that the relapse rate of the intervention group was significantly lower(P<0.05).Conclusion:(1)Williams life skills training can effectively reduce the anxiety and depression levels of alcohol-dependent patients and promote their mental health.(2)Williams life skills training can effectively improve the coping style of alcohol-dependent patients by enhancing their general self-efficacy and confidence in dealing with various stressful events through various skills training in coping with stressful situations.(3)Williams life skills training can improve the success rate of abstinence in alcohol-dependent patients and effectively prevent relapse.
