Objective:A prospective study was conducted to observe the effect of traction therapy on cervical sagittal parameters and the relationship between each parameter and neck pain and cervical spine dysfunction,to investigate the effect of traction therapy on cervical sagittal balance, and to search for possible risk factors for neck pain and cervical spine dysfunction in patients with cervical spondylosis. Methods:Using a prospective study methodology,50 patients who met the inclusion criteria and were treated with cervical spine traction therapy at the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of Jiangxi Provincial People’s Hospital from July 2022 to December 2022 were collected. The VAS,NDI,Sagittal parameters of the cervical spine(C2-C7 Cobb angle,T1 S,C2-C7 SVA)of the patients before and after traction therapy were collected.Changes in VAS,NDI,C2-C7 Cobb angle,T1 S,and C2-C7 SVA before and after treatment were compared. The correlation between each cervical sagittal parameter and VAS,NDI after surgery was analyzed, and regression analysis was used to find the risk factors for VAS pain score and NDI index. Results:The paired t-test results showed that the patient’s VAS pain score and NDI index decreased post-treatment versus pre-treatment,Whereas,C2-C7 Cobb angle and T1 S increased and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).There was no significant change in C2-C7 SVA compared with that before treatment(p>0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that a notable positive relatedness between C2-C7 Cobb angle and T1S(r=0.617,p<0.05),and no relatedness was found between C2-C7 Cobb angle and C2-7 SVA or T1 S and C2-7 SVA(p>0.05).C2-C7 Cobb angle had a significant negative correlation with VAS pain score(r=-0.748,p<0.05)and NDI index(r=-0.705,p<0.05),while C2-7 SVA had a notable positive relatedness with VAS(r=0.735,p<0.05)and a notable negative relatedness with NDI(r=0.616,p<0.05).Age,gender,and T1 tilt angle had no correlation with VAS pain score or NDI index(p>0.05).The multiple linear regression analysis of VAS pain score after treatment showed that C2-C7 Cobb angle had a significant negative effect on VAS pain score(β=-1.484,t=-3.559,p=0.005<0.05),while C2-7 SVA had a significant positive effect(β=0.910,t=3.621,p=0.007<0.01).The multiple linear regression analysis of NDI index after treatment showed that C2-C7 Cobb angle had a significant negative effect on NDI index(β=-0.884,t=-3.142,p=0.010<0.05),while C2-7 SVA had a significant positive effect(β=0.522,t=3.112,p=0.014<0.05).Conclusion:The results indicate that cervical traction therapy can help patients with cervical spondylosis restore sagittal balance of the cervical spine, and too small C2-C7 Cobb angle and too large C2-7 SVA are possible risk factors for cervical pain and cervical dysfunction. |
