| Objectives The linguistic phenomenon of negation,as a pervasive abstract concept,has been controversial for how it is characterized,and it has been the focus of controversy over both negative propositional and naturalistic theories.Emotions as an abstract,individualized notation,some researchers have found that negation also has an emotional valence and arousal level dimension characterization,this study introduces the direction of the emotional motivation dimension,selects the direction of the emotional motivation dimension dimension(approach-avoidance),and explores whether negation also has the emotional motivation dimension of approach avoidance dimension characterization,the direction of the characterization is approach?Or avoidance?The present study further expands the problem of negative characterization under the theory of identity.Methods experiment 1:using the affirmative or negative phrases consisting of"with/without"plus a neutral word as experimental material,and using a high temporal resolution ERP Experimental technique2(phrase polarity:affirmative/negative)×2(direction:approach/avoidance)the within group experimental design,with the time and right rates of response from ethology and the amplitude and response latency of N100,N200,P200 and N400 of ERP as dependent variables indicators,was adopted to simulate the"manikin task"task and explore the emotional motivation dimension paradigm under which the negative emotional motivation dimension characterizes situations.Experiment 2:taking positive or negative phrases composed of"with/without"plus neutral words and emotional words in the direction of different emotional motivation dimensions as experimental material.High temporal resolution ERP experiments were performed using a2(priming phrase polarity:affirmative/negative)×2(target emotion word valence:positive/negative)×The within group experimental design for 2(target emotion word direction:approach/avoidance)was conducted using the BFP paradigm with the amplitude and response latency of the P100,N100,P200,N400,and LPC in the behavioural response as dependent variables and the negative/affirmative phrases as initiators and the emotional words of approach/avoidance as target items,To explore whether there is a congruence effect on the converging avoidance representation of the emotional motivational dimension negated in the classical paradigm of emotion initiation.Results Experiment 1:behavioral data results revealed a higher rate of correct for the positive condition than for the negative condition in the approaching direction[F(1,27)=7.860,p=0.009,η_p~2=0.225].The ERP data showed that the mean latency of each condition in the case of latency affirmation was longer in the N100 component than in the case of negativity[F(1,27)=4.387,p=0.046,η_p~2=0.140];The mean amplitude evoked by each condition in the approach direction was greater for the P200 component than for the avoidance direction[F(1,27)=3.141,p=0.088,η_p~2=0.104];The N200 component was significantly larger in the negative than in the positive condition[F(1,27)=4.575,p=0.042,η_p~2=0.145],in the avoidance direction[F(1,27)=9.503,p=0.005,η_p~2=0.260]and in the avoidance direction[F(1,27)=10.505,p=0.003,η_p~2=0.280];The amplitudes evoked in the avoidance direction were higher in the N400 component than those evoked in the near direction[F(1,27)=9.917,p=0.004,η_p~2=0.269];Experiment 2:behavioral data results showed that the mean response to each condition in the positive phrases was smaller than the mean response to each condition in the negative phrases[F(1,36)=14.023,p=0.001,η_p~2=0.275].The ERP data results showed that the P100 component latencies elicited in the avoidance direction were significantly longer than those elicited in the near direction for the affirmative condition[F(1,36)=6.205,p=0.018,η_p~2=0.151],for the positive valences than for the negative valences[F(1,36)=3.372,p=0.075,η_p~2=0.088],and for the positive valences than for the near direction[F(1,36)=4.812,p=0.035,η_p~2=0.121],The mean of the wave amplitudes across conditions was greater for the N100 component negative than for the positive[F(1,36)=27.962,p<0.001,η_p~2=0.444]and for the negative than for the positive[F(1,36)=4.030,p=0.052,η_p~2=0.103];P200 component amplitude the mean amplitude evoked by the affirmative phrase was smaller than that evoked by the negative phrase[F(1,36)=4.662,p=0.038,η_p~2=0.118],and the mean amplitude of each component in the positive valence was smaller than that in the negative valence[F(1,36)=4.935,p=0.033,η_p~2=0.124];The latency of each component in the N400 component in the negative phrases was longer than that in the positive phrases[F(1,36)=3.897,p=0.054,η_p~2=0.102],the mean of the amplitudes evoked by each component in the positive condition was larger than that in the negative condition[F(1,36)=14.470,p=0.001,η_p~2=0.293],and the mean of the amplitudes evoked by each component in the negative condition was larger than that evoked by the positive condition[F(1,36)=7.515,p=0.010,η_p~2=0.177];The mean amplitude evoked by the LPC component negative phrases was greater than that evoked by positive phrases[F(1,36)=5.603,p=0.024,η_p~2=0.138].Conclusions 1)negate the representations with the emotionally motivated dimension approach avoidance;2)The specific representation direction of negation is
