| BackgroundAs an important part of hospital human resources, nurses’ mental health and happiness will directly affect their job satisfaction and job performance, thus affecting the overall medical level and service quality of the hospital.Front-line nurses are at high risk of mental illness due to their heavy workload and pressure.Employee Assistance Program(EAP)is a systematic service method set up by organizations for employees. It mainly evaluates, advises and guides employees to alleviate their mental health problems through tertiary prevention. When applied to hospitals,EAP advocates the establishment of a "people-oriented,positive and healthy" hospital culture, and improves the concept of humanistic care for nursing staff,so as to improve work efficiency. The development of employee assistance program is of great significance to hospital managers and nurses themselves, but the application of employee assistance program in nurses is still in the initial stage of exploration.ObjectiveTo explore the effect of nurse mental health cultivation program based on employee assistance program on subjective well-being,depression and mental health of clinical front-line nurses.MethodsA total of 96 clinical nurses working in Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital from August 2020 to March 2021 were selected by convenience sampling method.According to random number table method,47 people were divided into observation group and 49 people were divided into control group. The control group was not given intervention measures; The intervention group was given a 6month nurse mental health cultivation program based on the employee assistance Plan:① First-stage cultivation:The project team established the "Nurse mental health Cultivation Program" public account and set up a message board to provide nurses with catharsis and ways to improve the expected working environment.②Second-stage cultivation:including online and offline lecture activities.Online psychological education refers to the release of 1~2 related videos every month.Offline lecture activities refer to 1-2 related theme activities and offline lectures organized by the head nurses of psychological department and other departments at the end of each theme.(3)Three-stage cultivation:The project sets up psychological doctors and head nurses as psychological assistance teachers. When nurses encounter problems that cannot be solved by themselves, they can use faceto-face and telephone communication for one-to-one assistance. The evaluation tools included the General information Questionnaire, nurses’ mental health Questionnaire,Oxford Well-being Questionnaire and self-rating Depression Scale. The surveyors took measurements immediately before and 3 days after the intervention, and sent electronic questionnaires to nurses.ResultsBefore intervention, there was no significant difference between the two groups in general data, total scores and dimensions of nurses’ mental health questionnaire, total scores of Depression Self-rating Scale and total scores of Oxford Happiness Scale and dimensions. After intervention, the nursing staff in the intervention group had lower scores of Depression self-rating scale than before intervention, and the total score of Oxford Happiness Scale, interpersonal harmony and self-efficacy dimensions were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The total score of nurses’ mental health questionnaire and the scores of all dimensions were improved compared with those before intervention(P<0.05).ConclusionBased on the widely used staff assistance programs at home and abroad, this study established a nursing staff mental health cultivation program.Through the three-step cultivation content, the program can improve the level of nurses’ mental health and happiness, and improve the nurses’ cognition and attention to mental health, and maintain the stability of the nursing team. |
