Objective To observe the differences of sympathetic function between migraine patients and normal subjects, study the characteristics of sympathetic function in different periods of migraine patients, compare the effects of different acupuncture treatments on migraine and sympathetic function. Methods First,30 healthy people who meet the inclusion criteria and 30 patients with migraine in remission were detected Holter monitoring for 30 minutes,to observe the indicators ’ changes of sympathetic function in patients with migraine.Secondly, the 30 migraine patients were randomly divided into unadjacent sympathetic nerve group and adjacent sympathetic nerve group,15 cases in each group. The unadjacent sympathetic nerve group selected points of Xuanli,Shuaigu,Touwwei and Hegu. The adjacent sympathetic nerve groupselected points of Fengchi,Tianrong and Neiguan.Patients were treated 3 times a week for 2 weeks(6 times). Before migraine attacks, after the migraine attacks before and after treatment,1 week,2 week and 12 week after the start of treatment, with the Mc Gill pain score includes Feel Items,Emotional Items,Visual Analogus Scale(VAS),Present Pain Intensity(PPI),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale,(SAS),Self-Rating Deprssion Scale(SDS)and24h Holter monitoring as well. After 12 weeks,The Mc Gill Pain,SAS,SDS were returned visit. For each scale scores and heart rate variability(HRV)index between groups, within groups, and correlation analysis, the data was done with SPSS17.0 software for statistical analysis. Results There was no significant difference between the healthy group and the migraine headache group in the general data such as age and gender.Compared with the healthy group,r MSSD parameters in migraine patients was significantly lower than the healthy group(P<0.05),VLF、LF、HF、SDNN、SDANN、ASDNN in migraine patients had the trends of lower than the healthy group.Compared with the remission period, the attack period of SDNN parameters in migraine patients was significantly lower than that in remission period(P<0.05),VLF、LF、HF、SDANN、ASDNN、r MSSD in attack period had the trends of lower than that in remission period. The SDANN、ASDNN parameters were significantly higher in acupuncture than those before acupuncture in attack period(P <0.05),VLF、LF、HF、SDNN、r MSSD parameters had the trends of higher than those before acupuncture. After acupuncture treatment,VLF、LF、HF、SDNN、ASDNN、r MSSD parameters were higher then before acupuncture treatment.Compared with before first treatmen,SDNN、ASDNN parameters were significantly higher after first treatment,ASDNN parameters were significantly higher after1 week and 2week treatment in unadjacent sympathetic nerve group.Compared with before first treatmen,SDANN、ASDNN parameters were significantly higher after first treatment、SDANN parameters were significantly higher after 1week in adjacent sympathetic nerve group. There was no significant difference between the unadjacent sympathetic nerve group and the adjacent sympathetic nerve group in general information such as age, gender and disease duration. Before treatment, the scores of Mc Gill Pain included Sensory Items,Emotional Items,VSA,PPI and SAS,SDS score has no significant difference. After the migraine attack, there was immediate analgesic effect in both groups. However, the immediate analgesic effect of the adjacent sympathetic nerve group was significantly better than that of the unadjacent sympathetic nerve group(P <0.05).The return visit questionnaires were performed after 12 weeks.During the return visit period,Mc Gill Pain scores including Sensory Items,VSA and PPI were lower than those before treatment during the return visit period(P < 0.05).Conclusion HRV in migraine group tends to be lower than in healthy group.HRV in patients migraine without aura in attack period was lower than that in remission period and acupuncture was effective in improving HRV in migraine patients. The unadjacent sympathetic nerve group and the adjacent sympathetic nerve group were effective in improving sympathetic function and treating the pain of migraine patients, the adjacent sympathetic nerve group immediate analgesic effect is superior to the unadjacent sympathetic nerve group.
