"Planting Foundation" is a compulsory course for the corresponding entrance examination of agriculture and forestry majors in Hebei Vocational School.The knowledge system of this course is complex and the content is boring and trivial.Due to the poor learning methods of students and the single teaching methods of teachers,the learning efficiency of students is not high,and the teaching effect is in urgent need for improvement.As a visual tool composed of elements such as characters,symbols and colors,the mind map can realize the organic integration of "teaching" and "learning" and achieve the purpose of improving teaching quality.Based on relevant research and theoretical analysis at home and abroad,this study adopt the methods of questionnaire survey,interview and observation of the classroom,took 56 students from Class 15,Grade 2021 in N Vocational Education Center of Huanghua City as the object.In the preliminary preparation stage,the teacher reviewed and organized relevant literature materials,clarified the research significance and current situation,and analyzed the application status of the mind map in the course of "Planting Foundation ".Divided the application stage into four different stages: teacher draw,teacher and students jointly draw,students group cooperativly draw,and students independently draw: In the first stage,the teacher combined the mind map to carry out teaching practice and led students to become familiar with the mind map;Subsequently,the drawing subject would be gradually transferred to students through other three stages: teacher and students jointly draw,students group cooperativly draw,and students independently draw.The teacher taught students how to draw the mind map,at the same time,the teacher formulated a effect evaluation system of the mind map in practice,and guided students to evaluate and reflect on the effect of the mind map.Finally,based on the results of the questionnaire survey and interviews with students,the teacher analyzed the impact of the mind map on students’ learning interests,drawing skills,and thinking abilities in the "Planting Foundation" course.The results showed that applying the mind map to the teaching of the course "Planting Foundation" resulted in a more active classroom atmosphere and increased students’ interest and initiative in learning.After repeated practice,most students mastered the basic drawing points and could draw the mind map independently.Students are more approve of the role of the mind map in teaching.At the same time,the mind map can change students’ ideas and methods in solving problems and make them express their ideas more clearly.They also expressed their willingness to continue using the mind map in the future.To sum up,the application of the mind map in the teaching of "Planting Foundation" in secondary vocational schools can improve students’ classroom participation and satisfaction,stimulate students’ interest in learning,improve students’ learning enthusiasm,cultivate students’ hands-on drawing ability and thinking ability,change students’ problem-solving thinking,improve students’ learning efficiency,and achieve good teaching effect.This practical study provides a case reference for teachers of agriculture and forestry major in secondary vocational schools.
