Caragana acanthophylla Kom belongs to Caragana Fabr of Leguminosae. It is a native plant in Xinjiang with obvious geographical advantages. It is also an eco-economic tree species integrating landscaping and barren mountain afforestation. The quality of bare root seedlings is poor, the survival rate of afforestation is low,and the effect is not ideal. In order to improve the quality of seedlings,it is necessary to raise seedlings in containers. This paper mainly studies the effects of different substrates and burying depth on the emergence characteristics of Caragana acanthophylla Kom,and the effects of different seedling management on seedling growth and seedling cost, and selects the technical scheme of container seedling cultivation which is suitable for production. At the same time, compared with Caragana korshinskii Kom,which is widely used in arid area, the growth advantages and disadvantages of Caragana acanthophylla Kom under different amounts of slow-release fertilizer were analyzed and its afforestation potential was evaluated.the results are as follows:The seed emergence rate of Caragana acanthophylla Kom seeds was the highest,up to 74.25%,and was significantly different from that of other sowing treatments. The survival rate of seedlings is 100.00%.The number of interseedling plants had the greatest effect on the growth of Caragana acanthophylla Kom container seedlings, and had a significant effect on ground diameter, leaf number, main root length, lateral root number and biomass accumulation, and on seedling height. The amount of seedling substrate ×slow-release fertilizer was the second, and the number of lateral roots, underground biomass accumulation and chlorophyll SPAD value were the key indexes to reflect the quality of Caragana acanthophylla Kom container seedlings. The combination of seedling substrate A1(peat soil),slow release fertilizer B1(1.5 kg·m-3),interseedling number C1(2 plants/nutrition bowl)and weeding cycle D1(times/20 d)showed that the average membership function value of container seedlings of Caragana acanthophylla Kom was 0.695,the seedling height was12.98 cm,the ground diameter was 2.84 mm,the number of leaves was 21.00,the length of main root was50.17 cm,the number of lateral roots was 47.00,and the aboveground fresh weight was 1.99 g.The underground fresh weight is 0.95 g,the aboveground dry weight is 0.67 g,the underground dry weight is0.39 g,the chlorophyll SPAD value is 66.23,the root activity is 69.65 μg·h-1·g-1,the soluble sugar content is1.96 mg·g-1,and the soluble protein content is 1.48 mg·m L-1.The growth of container seedlings is not significantly different from that of the best seedling combination, and the cost per plant is only 0.406 yuan, which can be popularized and applied in production. The fertilization experiment showed that the best slow-release fertilizer for the growth of two kinds of Caragana Fabr container seedlings was 2.5 kg·m-3,and the height-diameter ratio,root-shoot ratio, underground biomass accumulation, soluble sugar and soluble protein content of Caragana acanthophylla Kom were better than that of Caragana korshinskii Kom.Caragana korshinskii Kom seedling height has growth advantage;light can promote the growth of Caragana acanthophylla Kom,but low light has no significant effect on the growth of Caragana korshinskii Kom.Caragana korshinskii Kom allocated a higher proportion of biomass to the aboveground part, while Caragana acanthophylla Kom was mainly allocated to the root system, and the order of membership function was as follows: Caragana acanthophylla Kom >Caragana korshinskii Kom.In summary,Caragana acanthophylla Kom container seedlings have better quality and higher afforestation potential, which can be used for barren mountain greening.
